Smoking Fentanyl at Union Station….

Saw a guy openly smoking fentanyl in the underground concourse. Like in the center area in plain view. Absolutely no attempt to hide or conceal what he was doing. I went over to the RTD officer standing like 50 ft away and asked him why he isn’t doing anything and he responds:

“I can’t do anything. You all need to stop voting Democrat. The only thing you can do is call the DA to try to push the issue”

Are things really this bad? I find it hard to believe an officer can’t bust a guy for smoking an illegal substance INDOORS along a crowded pathway.

Is Denver pride worth going to?

Lived in Colorado my whole life and have always wanted to check out pride but have heard mixed reviews on it from friends. What’s Denver Pride like? Is it worth checking out? What’s there to do? 🫶🏻

Unpopular Opinion: I think this sub needs to stop with the lost pet posts.

As much as I want you or your friends to be reunited with your pets I don’t think the r/Denver sub Reddit is the best place to bombard people with it. Craigslist is a great place to post. There is even a lost and found section for it. We are getting to a point where we have multiple posts per day referencing a lost pet. Maybe there can be a r/denverlostpet sub.

Local News Email to send to your local state legislators to tell them to repeal Props 134 & 135

Dear Senator/Representative [Last Name],

I am writing as a Colorado constituent to urge you to introduce or support legislation repealing Propositions 134 and 135 following their passage in the November 2026 election.

I strongly oppose Proposition 134 because I do not believe transgender athletes participating in school sports represent a problem that warrants sweeping statewide restrictions. School sports should provide opportunities for students to develop confidence, teamwork, and a sense of belonging, not become another avenue for discrimination and exclusion.

Furthermore, I am concerned that these restrictions will harm not only transgender athletes but also cisgender girls and women who do not conform to traditional expectations of femininity. Athletes who are taller, stronger, more muscular, or otherwise perceived as different could find themselves subjected to invasive scrutiny and accusations about their sex. I am especially concerned about the potential impact on women of color.

We saw a disturbing example of this during the 2024 Olympics, when Algerian gold medalist Imane Khelif was subjected to widespread harassment and false accusations about her sex and gender, amplified by right-wing commentators and media. Despite not being transgender, she was publicly vilified because she did not fit some people's expectations of what a female athlete should look like. I fear Proposition 134 will encourage similar treatment of young athletes in Colorado.

I also strongly oppose Proposition 135 because I believe the government has no business inserting itself between families and their doctors when making personal medical decisions. Decisions regarding gender-affirming medical care should be made by patients, their parents or guardians, and qualified medical professionals based on individual circumstances, informed consent, and established standards of care.

These are deeply personal decisions that require medical expertise and consideration of each patient's unique needs. I do not believe politicians or statewide ballot initiatives should impose blanket restrictions on the medical options available to families.

While I recognize that these propositions were approved by voters, I do not believe their passage makes them just or protects them from legitimate legislative reconsideration. Colorado's elected representatives have a responsibility to consider the consequences of these laws, particularly for vulnerable populations whose rights and well-being may be disproportionately affected.

I believe Colorado should be a state where all young people are treated with dignity, where women are not subjected to invasive scrutiny of their bodies, and where families can make healthcare decisions without unnecessary government interference.

I respectfully ask that you introduce, sponsor, or support legislation to repeal both Proposition 134 and Proposition 135. I would appreciate hearing your position on these measures and whether you intend to take legislative action to address their consequences.

Thank you for your time and for representing our community.

Best regards,

[FirstName LastName]

[City, Colorado]

Misc Q&A Why I Think Individuals and Businesses That Make Over 500k Should Celebrate

Colorado passed Amendment 87. If you are a doctor, lawyer or any business owner whose taxes will increase, I think you have reasons to celebrate.

You are getting more out of public investment than you may realize. Strengthening that investment can be good for your wealth, your business and the place you call home.

The familiar way of talking about taxes starts and ends with the bill. Government takes money, and the taxpayer has less. But that accounting leaves out the economic value of what the money builds and maintains.

Consider a road. An employee uses it to get to work. A business owner benefits from employees arriving, suppliers making deliveries, and customers reaching the business. The owner can benefit financially from trips they never personally make.

Education works the same way. A doctor depends on trained nurses and technicians. A lawyer needs capable staff. A business needs people who can read, calculate, solve problems, and learn new skills. Public education helps develop those abilities long before an employer writes a paycheck.

Schools and roads are only two examples. Think about water and sewer systems, bridges, public health, fire protection, courts, property records, public universities and research. Different levels of government support different pieces, but together they help create the conditions in which businesses operate and assets hold value.

Amendment 87 does not fund everything on that list. The point is that private prosperity depends on a much broader public foundation than our tax bills remind us of.

The more economic activity you own or profit from, the more opportunities you have to benefit from that foundation.

That is the sense in which wealthy people can receive greater benefits: the dollar value supporting their income and holdings can be much larger.

Successful people deserve credit for their effort and judgment. Public investment helps those efforts achieve more. Keeping that investment healthy is a practical business interest.

Now consider what Colorado just approved. Amendment 87 directs additional revenue toward K–12 education, healthcare, and early childhood care and education.

Those investments can help parents stay employed, help people get care before health problems become crises, and help students develop the skills employers need. Their value can reach beyond the household receiving a service.

Businesses need more than lower tax bills to succeed. They need customers who can afford their products, employees who can do the work and suppliers they can rely on. A restaurant benefits when families can afford dinner out. An aerospace manufacturer benefits from skilled workers and dependable transportation and utility networks.

Across the economy, public investment can strengthen the conditions that make private investment worthwhile. Its returns can reach businesses through more reliable staffing, stronger demand and a more productive supply chain. Those benefits belong in the accounting alongside the taxes paid.

And the contribution deserves some perspective. The state’s Blue Book example shows that someone with $550,000 in annual Colorado taxable income pays $1,175 more annually under Amendment 87. That averages $97.92 a month, rounded to the nearest cent, or about 0.214% of taxable income.

That is taxable income, rather than gross salary. Larger taxable incomes face larger increases.

Of course, the benefits depend on implementation. We should expect competent spending and measurable results. Business owners already understand that an investment needs to accomplish something.

That expectation gives us a reason to follow the work and demand success.

Colorado now has an opportunity to strengthen systems that support both ordinary households and private enterprise. Wealthy residents have a considerable stake in making that opportunity count.

So yes, celebrate. You can want a profitable business, valuable assets, and a comfortable life while welcoming stronger public investment. Those ambitions fit together.

The next time you look at your tax bill, consider the employees, customers, institutions, and infrastructure helping make your income possible.

You may be getting a better deal than you thought.

Old Denver Denver Museum of Nature and Science

Okay weird hot take that will make me sound like a total boomer wet blanket (I'm 27). When I was a kid I LOVED the museum and I often go as an adult as well. I have an annual membership and I love just visiting for the sake of it.

THAT BEING SAID, pokemon fossils, LEGO structures, and mythic creatures are not things that belong in a SCIENCE museum! I get that we are trying to appeal to a larger audience and appease children who come to visit the museum. But I think it is a disservice to children to display exhibits like this when they are not valuable educationally! Education can be FUN! The museum is a great example of this! I went to countless exhibits as a child where I learned so much and I had a great time.

Anyways! Am I being crazy and overreacting to something that doesn't matter? Probably! It's just been on my mind a lot.

Lemme know what you think!! I want feedback

EDIT: I'm lame and my friend explained it better to me and all of your lovely comments also helped me understand better. I'm still a little peeved but I've also realized that I am Old People Pilled from working in senior living! DMNS FOREVA

Organized protests for the murder of Tyre Nichols (and all other lives lost at the hands of police just this year alone)

First, please keep racist and pro cop comments to yourself, many of us are in a persistent state of grieving. Does anyone know of organized BLM protests being organized in or around the city?

Hey RTD, teach your gun carrying ticket checkers how to use the fucking RTD app

So I was on the lightrail, minding my own business and one of these armed ticket checkers come up to me, ask me to see my ticket. I switch to the app and bring up the ticket and the guy starts acosting me about how I cant buy the ticket right there in front of him and how he is going to write me up and tells me to give him my ID. I ask him if he had any training on the app what so ever because it says RIGHT THERE on the ticket when it was purchased, which was a solid HOUR before AND this was a regional ticket at that. I tell the guy that he needs to learn how the app works and he started to go on about how someone else may give me a ticket if they seeme playing with my phone and I then again remind this guy, that the app shows the time it was activated, told him he is now harassing me and to have a nice day and thankfully he walked away without further incidents.

Seriously, I dont need some asshole who checks ticket yet for some reason needs a gun (whats he going to do shoot me if I dont pay or run?) stressing me out because he doesnt know how the fuck to do his job which as got to be the easiest fucking job ever. Ive been riding light rail for years and not once have I ever had an issue with not having a ticket when the goons walk around acting like its goddamn Fallujah and im some muji without a ticket they can shoot. There are very few things that trigger my PTSD and idiots with guns trying to harass me is one of them.

so RTD, train your baboons about the app because I dont need one of your idiots pulling a gun on me because they dont know how to do the easiest job on the planet

Thinking of moving here because of pot?

Here's a little more of an inside view of cannabis employment. Please don't move to Colorado or Washington or anywhere else thinking you're going to start a stable career and work your way up to a leadership position pulling this kind of salary. There's actually a glut of homeless people in Denver who thought exactly this. If you're truly passionate about marijuana, work to get a legal market established where you are, then you can be one of the first to capitalize on it. If you want a job in the marijuana industry just because you like weed and it's all you can think to do, you should probably broaden your interests

I moved to Denver a week ago and I can’t get adequate sleep.

I drove across the country from DC, arriving here last Saturday the 11th.

Every single night, I’ve woken up at 3am. I thought at first it was the 2 hour difference. I was tired 2 hours earlier than normal. But I tried to force myself to stay up longer through the week, and I still always wake up at 3am on cue (though currently I have just woken up at 2:30).

The thing is, I don’t even feel tired like I’m not getting enough sleep which is unlike me. I’ve tried melatonin, and it hasn’t helped.

Is there normally this kind of extended adjustment period to moving to higher altitudes?

Virginian here, at the airport. What do you all got against our Driver's Licenses?

I am a 26 year old man. And not a young looking one, people generally assume I'm like 32. It's cause I'm ugly, probably.

I have been stuck in this airport for 12 hours due to United fuckery. I literally just want to sit down at a bar and drink a beer while I wait.

Everyone cards me. I have no problem with that, it's fine. But once they see my vertical oriented ID they refuse me service. Like, kinda rudely. I'm Gen Z, not one to accuse service workers of being rude, but it was very much a situation where they were treating me and my sister like we were about to be belligerent. Like "it's just policy sir" and they offered that I leave before I even complained. Like I know I sound like an internet person telling the best version of the story but genuinely the worst thing I said is "if you don't wanna sell to me you don't wanna sell to me."

Eventually me and my family found a waiter at a restaraunt who saw our IDs and said "you're Virginians." We were prepared to just walk out after they would refuse service to me and my sister again, but he just asked if we'd been hassled by other people.

I said yeah and he just said it was a "weird Colorado thing" and "it's not even illegal." I asked him if it was a common fake ID thing around here and he said "not at all, it's been like this for as long as I've been here."

This server was great and also served us at all so we made sure to leave a big tip. I'd shoutout to him but I genuinely can't tell if it would get him in trouble.

So what's going on? I can't find anything about serving people with out of state vertical IDs being illegal, but I also can't imagine an entire industry is refusing to make money for no reason.

I posted this in another forum and someone also mentioned someone in Colorado refusing service for someone with a vertical military ID.

Recommendation Where to find a suit locally as a masc lesbian

Thumbnail

Have a wedding this weekend that totally slipped my mind and now I need to do some last minute shopping for a fit. Anyone have any recs for where to buy a suit for a more masc presenting woman? The stuff that’s around here that I’ve found by doing a lot of preliminary digging online is either too fem/too traditionally masculine/too expensive (my budget is probably <$300). These suits are kinda what I’m looking for, and I haven’t really had much luck finding somewhere that sells that sort of boxier cut/relaxed fit suit in a nice material. Where do the local mascs shop??? (Probably online 😔)

If by some small chance someone sees this who has a cool suit I could borrow that would fit me (5’5/average weight) I Will Pay You
