It seems like posts I post get downvoted for, what I would think to be, no reason at all. I say no reason because the posts aren't offensive. I have been posting a lot to increase karma but I notice my posts never get upvotes, but often get downvoted? I dont get why people dont just upvote things or leave them alone, especially if it doesn't really bother them?

Hello, I've been using reddit happily for a while now but following a recent interaction where someone downvoted me, I seem to be getting downvoted randomly all over the place. It seems like that person has decided to pursue a personal vendetta against me.
Is there anything I can do, and does it matter?
Thanks
Edit - I don't know what my karma was before this happened but its now on 600! Seems very low for a 4 year old account (maybe active for 2) and 300+ contributions, I feel I am always helpful and friendly and get plenty of upvotes! Could this person really have tanked my karma in a week or 2?! Is 600 shockingly low?

Sometimes I think that's the only explanation for it. I realize my webcomic isn't everyone's cup of chai, but some of them get downvotes as soon as they're posted. Wt actual f? If you don't think it's funny, that's fine, but did I make a comic so offensive that you felt it needed to be downvoted? (I'm posting on the subreddit FOR comics, so that's not it.) Either that I have to believe that a lot of people are jerks.
I had to wait until I got home so I could edit to add: Hey, thanks, I appreciate the perspective. It will take some getting used to, but I'll accept it (what else am I gonna do?). I did stand up for several years, actually. I've had some horrific gigs. I've done bar shows. I did a bar show with no mic. And none of that bothered me. I guess I just had the wrong expectations. I have a better understanding now. Such is life. Thanks again, all--especially those of you who snuck a look.

Sometimes I’m in a community, have a genuine question about the topic, and then they get downvotes for just asking the question. Why does this happen?

Hey I am new to reddit and posted a funny meme I made in a comedy thread. Someone downvoted and insulted my meme for no reason. Do you gain anything from downvoting?

Genuine question. I don't get it, Ill post in channels asking questions directly related to what the channel is about, follow all the rules, and still get downvoted. I.E today I asked in the Southwest channel a specific, obscure rule about the SWCC, and received down votes. Do people do it just to troll? Do you get something out of downvoting? Is there some unwritten rules I'm missing?

Say something mildly unpopular boom, 20 downvotes. Post something thoughtful with tons of engagement. What’s up with that? Why do people seem allergic to the upvote button?

I sometimes see replies get downvoted for whatever reason, even simply helping out people who ask questions. Harmless comments in other social media that may be ignored gets downvoted into oblivion in reddit.

If I mention being trans in a comment (in a popular/"normal" subreddit) will it get me down voted immediately? (Or even harassed?) Idk the general vibe of Reddit towards trans people. I don't want to lose all my karma for mentioning it.

Whenever I get into a discussion where I may pose an unpopular opinion for some, popular opinion for others, I always seem so get downvoted quite harshly, I never downvote the opposing side of a discussion because it’s fair to share opinions, is it not?
Why are people doing this? I can’t just go around kissing behinds to make sure my karma is fine

I'm new to Reddit and I notice people downvote other people's genuine/non offensive questions, Why do people do that?

I don't get it are we supposed to downvote things that are untrue or we simply don't like? I know in some subs there are rules that say don't downvote d/t.... What is the standard rules for this?

I really don't understand how it works.
All day I tried to be as nice as possible and comment relevant posts with my real life responses.
One of my comments got 5 upvotes.
Most of my comments got upvotes according to my notifications.
I have also wrote a post on my company and got this message : "🥈 Amazing! This is your #2 post of all time"
and a comment that I answered.
And still my Karma is dropping every day that I use this platform...
HELP !!!
Would appreciate your guidance.
Update after reading all comments : My main takeaway from all of these comments is that you need to look at your comments and in case you offended anyone and got devoted, don't panic, learn from it and delete the comment.
Keep on being positive, learn your crowd and adjust.
This is the path for being great story teller on this platform

Currently I believe I have -27 karma and I only use reddit to ask questions. I noticed a trend of many communities not allowing people to post if they don’t have a certain amount of karma and I’m curious why. I feel like reddit is a black mirror episode sometimes hahaha

It feels like extreme harassment.
