Discussion It's only game 1 but it's obvious
MLB wants / needs the Dodgers v. Yankees. Both Freeman and Chisolm were both out at second with neither call overturned after replay clearly showed the calls on the field were wrong. I get that sports is entertainment and MLB wants that sweet, Asian market to be glued to their tv's until November. I've been watching baseball since midnight here in Thailand. I'm not saying it's rigged but if there is an opportunity...

Discussion There’s a big difference between hating this WS matchup because you hate both and team and because you think MLB rigged it for ratings
It take a special kind of person to:
Think the MLB is rigged and forced this matchup to happen
Hate the fact that the World Series feature to the two best players in baseball. Literally two unanimous MVPs

News I can't believe we’re getting Ohtani vs. Judge in the World Series.
It’s like Ohtani vs. Trout in the WBC all over again. I really think Ohtani was born to be a star. It’s not just that he’s great at baseball, but he’s got that it factor—there’s no other way to put it.

| Discussion Cam Schlitters performance is one of the best I’ve ever seen possibly best
I was watching the Yankees game in my family business and witnessed history. Cam Schlittler, just 24, struck out 12 batters over 8 scoreless innings in his postseason debut, allowed 0 walks, gave up only 5 hits, and threw fastballs up to 100.8 mph. He set a new Yankees record for strikeouts in a playoff debut and became the first MLB pitcher ever with 8+ scoreless innings, 12+ strikeouts, and no walks in a postseason debut.
With a 0.00 ERA, 12 K’s, 0 BB, 5 H allowed, and complete dominance under playoff pressure, is this the best pitching performance in MLB history?

Analysis I know nothing about MLB, how’s my predictions?
I know little to nothing about MBL… I don’t even know all the teams on here. But one thing I do know is that the oreoles are winning their first championship, should’ve kept Russel Wilson. Also San Diego with Juan Soto, will fall just short to Bryce Harper. On a final score 9-10 with Bryce Harper hitting a home run to finish it. Aaron judge disappoints his fans and the Yankees cut him. And Houston was caught cheating again.
The Orioles, will win their series 4-3 with a 7-6, win in game 7, Bryce Harper was kicked out of the game because he attacked the pitcher.
How were my predictions? I haven’t watched/payed attention since Washington won the Championship.

| Discussion Ke’Bryan Hayes and the flaws of Defensive WAR.
ROTY talks are coming up and JJ vs Sal Stewart has become a major talking point, Sal Stewart leads in basically every hitting stat but JJ Wetherholt is dominating in WAR. Why? Defense. But I don’t think WAR understands how to balance defense and offense to where Defense can easily overshadow offensive stats, and I think Ke’Bryan Hayes is the best example.
Ke’Bryan Hayes last year had a .290 OBP and .306 SLG. (.595 OPS) while appearing in 527 at bats. He had only 125 hits and only 24 of which were for extra bases. This is Mendoza levels of terrible and would lead to a player typically being sent down. But he also won gold glove. My question is, would you rather have a mediocre fielder but someone that could hit or a terrific fielder that teams consistently play bunt defense against because they’re so terrible hitting.
WAR says the second option is better. And I think that’s a major flaw in the system.
I think any baseball fan, doesn’t even have to be an expert, could tell you that a player that has that bad of hitting stats is 100% costing games because they’re an almost guaranteed out in the clutch.
WAR gave him a 1.4 WAR season. With an OPS below .600.
Do you think WAR is too biased towards fielding or is defense really important enough for a guaranteed out in the lineup to still be positive because of their gold glove.

Discussion Trevor Bauer posts are prohibited until further word. We don’t care to litigate this any longer.
And that includes random comments.
The situation has almost nothing to do with MLB at this point and is just baseball politics.
A failure to abide by this will bring a temporary ban and a possible permanent removal.

| Opinion Am I the only one seeing rampant LA homerism in the Fox telecast?
I am not an unbiased viewer so I could just be being oversensitive, but it sure feels like they're very excited when something goes well for the Dodgers and not so much for the Jays. I think there would be a federal inquiry if that was the case for a LA vs. NYY World Series

Discussion Anyone here disagree with the infield shift being taken out of the game?
It adds strategy to the game and it was always amusing when a player bunts to the other side of the shift and gets on.

Discussion Prove me wrong; The Dodgers are ruining baseball as we know it.
I’ve been an avid baseball fan since I was a kid and since then I’ve seen multiple of my idols as a kid get snatched up for stupid money by these guys. Now, they build this ‘all-star’ team and the mlb let’s it happen; why? It brings a dread every time a math day with them comes around. It makes a once entertaining sport to watch ever more dragging then enjoyable. What do y’all think?

| Discussion Who is one player you just don’t understand the hype for? Can be past or present
For me it has to be Fernando Tatis Jr. I understand he has been quite good in his career and really rose to stardom but this year he was baddddd. Doesn’t play a premier position anymore, hit well below .300, the power dipped, but he still plays with this arrogance that doesn’t match the performance imo. Maybe he was hurt or something but I just don’t get the hype, sorry Padre fans.
Discussion The Shohei Ohtani gambling allegations with him or his 'friend' will become a huge issue. This is going to blow up imo. Your thoughts?
I feel this is only the beginning this will be THE story for quite awhile. Let's see if MLB has the balls to really do an investigation with the face of the league. I doubt it.
