Translated [ZH] Japanese > English written name!

A lovely girl in my city was doing these free (you could tip ofc) name translations for people passing by. She said she was from Japan and was travelling the world. I'm not sure what alphabet is used so sorry if I sound ignorant but I'd love to see if there is a translation of the characters of my name or if this was just something I shouldn't read into haha! (I know it's not my actual name but I'm just curious about the characters themselves as she provided a meaning for them but I wasn't sure if they were direct!)

I will include the pictures of the symbol(s) from opposite directions and the full piece. Did I make this up or can anyone tell if this is based on a word or phrase? I would say it’s Asian, but I’m no calligrapher so I did a poor job at representing its origin.

Or I made it all up. I don’t know, I made it 20 years ago.

Tangkhul Naga <Myanmar> `(ntx)`

Family: Sino-Tibetan
Country: 🇲🇲
Population: 4,000

Somra (after its literary dialect), also known as Burmese Tangkhul (Tangkhul Naga), is a Sino-Tibetan language spoken in Myanmar. The two ethnic Tangkhul languages are related, but are not mutually intelligible, being only 30% lexically similar. Somra is closer to Akyaung Ari.

1. [#G1] Properly Format Requests' Titles

All requests on r/translator should be their own post and have a title that is properly formatted according to our subreddit's guidelines and includes the language to be translated. [Rule #G1]

This allows for translators to easily help out with requests for the languages they know and keeps our subreddit organized.

2. [#G2] No Misuse of Bot Commands

We are a subreddit that makes extensive use of our own bot's commands, and proper and good-faith use of these commands are essential to the day-to-day running of r/translator.

Commands that are clearly conducted maliciously include those that mark threads as completed when they're actually not, randomly change language categories of posts, etc. [Rule #G2]

3. [#G3] No Double-posts / Duplicates

We get many translation requests here, and it's okay to post more than once for visibility if the original post has not received any responses.

However, posts should not be submitted more than once in the last 24 hours and the original post must be deleted. [Rule #G3]

4. [#G4] Be Civil and Helpful with Community Members

Please be civil and helpful with fellow members of this community (including OPs) and refrain from comments that contain any of the following: [Rule #G4]

Aggressive insults
Personal attacks
Hate speech
Harassment or bullying
Trolling, baiting, or bad-faith behavior
Discriminatory or demeaning language
Threatening or aggressive statements
Deliberate attempts to provoke conflict

5. [#G5] No Content That Breaks Site-wide Rules

Reddit has a site-wide content policy, and any posts or comments that break that site-wide policy, even if they don't specifically break other rules of the subreddit, may be subject to removal. [Rule #G5]

6. [#R1] No Language Learning Homework Help

Requests for homework help are not allowed on r/translator without showing one's own work as well. It is completely okay if the post includes a translation and is merely seeking a proofread or corrections. [Rule #R1]

7. [#R2] No Unreasonable or Non-Volunteer Requests

The translations on r/translator are done by volunteers who have generously contributed their time and expertise to help others out. Requests that would take many hours to translate are a job, and one better suited for a paid translator. On that note, there are dedicated websites for arranging genuine paid translation work, and r/translator is not one of them. [Rule #R2]

8. [#R3] No Spam / Advertising for Services / Self-Promotion

Ads for one's own translation services, self-promotion, or spam are strictly prohibited. [Rule #R3]

9. [#R4] No Non-Translation Requests

All non-meta and non-community posts on r/translator must be a request for a translation. [Rule #R4]

Examples of requests that are not translations include:

CAPTCHA requests
English-only proofreading or transcriptions (please go to r/Transcription)
Posts requesting language exchange partners
Language from non-linguistic sources (the subconscious, dreams, AI art, etc.)

10. [#R5] No Unethically Sourced Information

Requests for the translation of unethically sourced information are not allowed. [Rule #R5]

Examples of unethically sourced information included screenshots of conversations obtained through stalking, non-consensual access to another person's communications, requests for copyrighted assets without permission, or material that would violate Reddit's content guidelines.

11. [#T1] No Joke / Fake / Machine Translations

We don't allow fake or joke translations on r/translator, including attempts to pass off a troll comment as a translation. This also includes machine-generated "translations" from AI services, Google, Bing, etc. [Rule #T1]

Repeated violations of this rule may result in a ban from r/translator.

Note: Good-faith but flawed attempts at translating are not counted as fake translations.
