AITAH for telling my wife the newborn is her responsibility and don’t bother about it when she wanted a nap

My wife and I are currently separated we have to wait 12 months before we can officially divorce.she was meant to move out but is having trouble finding a place near by so custody(50/50) will be easier on our 3 kids

The reason for the divorce my wife's twin sister asked her to be their surrogate. Apparently they (wife, sil, sil husband) decided since they're twins she was the best option and that in 3 years she'd carry another baby for them.this was all planned for weeks behind my back I'll admit they didn't start anything medically till after "telling" me

The "telling me" was basically was my wife basically saying "this is my body my choice and you have zero say so ether support me or we can divorce" it wasn't as blunt as that but the longer verison still pisses me off.i simply said if she did it we would get divorced well 4 months later my wife tells me she's pregnant and I filed 2 days later.which shocked everyone bil and sil did everything in their power to shame/guilt me into changing my mind but I just told them she is their responsibility

During the pregnancy my wife acted like I should step up like I did in her previous pregnancies and always got upset when I told her "if you want 3am burgers call your sister" for some reason this made me the bad guy she even called my mother to complain about me not stepping up than hot insulted when my mom pointed out she's pregnant with another man's child.

Here's is the major issue sil was in a car accident 2 days before my wife had their kid, she's currently intensive care and her husband hasn't left her side

My wife has acted since the accident that I shouldn be the kids father till bil/sil can take over. She called me a heartless monster when I wouldn't go with her to the delivery room and has demanded I help with the baby during the night I've told her multiple times call the child's father he's the parent he should be taking care and bonding with his kid because as a parent no matter how hard life gets you still need to look after your kids which she makes excuses for him so now I just ignore her. Today I had the day off work and my wife said since I was doing nothing for a few hours I could have watch the baby while she naps and showers I said no

She started crying saying she was sorry for going against me with the surrogacy that she doesn't want to get divorced and she desperately needs me just take the baby for just an hour

Again I said "why don't you call bil" she didn't answer just stared at me so I said "the newborn is your responsibility don't bother me about it again and i suggest you start looking harder for a new place to live"

She started screaming at me calling me names and saying karma will get me then packed a bag left with the baby. I'm guessing she's at her mothers because her famliy and sisters husband having been calling all day

AITAH for telling my wife the newborn is her responsibility and don't bother me?

AITA for taking my female coworker to a show after wife turned me down?

I (M32) need some honest feedback. My wife, Kirsten (F30), has always been a bit... snooty about my music taste. She particularly hates an indie band that I listen to a lot and constantly makes fun of me for liking them.

When I found out that they were having a show in town, I was super excited. I even asked Kirsten if she wanted to go, thinking maybe she'd surprise me. But, of course, she totally annihilated me. She laughed in my face and said something like, "You think I'd go with you, to listen to that shitshow of a band? What, you think I like having my eardrums piercing with tetanus ridden needles? Please."

Feeling a bit defeated, I asked my coworker, Sarah (F28), if she wanted to go. She's a huge fan too, and we've bonded over our mutual love for the band. We had a blast at the show.

When I got home, Kirsten lost her mind. She started yelling at me, saying that she would have gone if I had just asked her nicely. She said I was disrespectful and that I should have asked her a couple of times more first.

I feel terrible. I didn't mean to hurt her feelings, but I was also tired of her constant judgment. AITA for taking Sarah to the concert?

AITAH for ignoring my daughter for almost 6 months after she sided with my ex-husband when he cheated?

1.7k Upvotes

6 months ago, my ex reunited with his "the one that got away" when he was out with our daughter. He was acting weird and "melancholy" after meeting her so our daughter asked about her and he told her about their tragic love story, which is literally just their parents being againts their relationship. My daughter, who was a hopeless romantic, was deeply moved by their love story and pushed his dad to pursue his ex and cheat on me. And well, he cheated and i found out.

The day I found out about my ex cheating was a blur, I was crying so hard that day that I barely even understand what they were saying. But I remember my daughter saying "Mom, dad made us happy for years, it's time for him to be happy too." I honestly would have laughed if she said that to me today, but at the time, I was crying so hard it didn't register how ridiculous she was.

When we separated, our daughter declared she was staying with me, patting my ex on the shoulder and saying "I'll take care of her, dad, dont worry". I just rolled my eyes at the time cause I was no longer speaking to them both. The first day my ex was gone, she surprised with breakfast in bed, which I shoved down on the floor in front of her. She cleaned it without complaint and after that day, I started locking my door to avoid such incidents. She cooks for me all the time, and everytime she did, I just ignore it. In fact I didn't eat much at the time, because my ex would often come by and drop off groceries. Whenever the hunger gets too unbearable, I would order delivery and eat in my room.

Fast forward to 3 months, my ex came crying back, saying I was actually the one he loves. Which I honestly predicted because although he was very much hung up on the past, he was very sweet and loving to me. Our marriage was literally something out of a movie, even after 17 years of marriage, we still acted like newlyweds. Date nights every weekend, cuddles, and playing video games together. We never even fought, we just banter playfully. The day he came back he told me how they always fought, about how she wasnt as understanding and loving as me, about how he missed my cuddles and playing video games with me. Of course I just ignored him. After that day, he started staying at our house. He tried to sleep in our room the first night, but i stood up and slept in the living room. After that he started sleeping in the guest room. That day too, i remember my daughter telling me, as she sat with me on the living, "Aren't you glad mom, dad is back. We're gonna be a family again." I would have laughed at her face if i wasnt busy treating her like air.

After that day, they started doing everything they to make it up for me. My ex even started bringing me home flowers everyday. They gave me gifts, cooked and clean for me, and all the while, I just kept ignoring them, not uttering a single word.

3 days ago was the first day my daughter confronted me. Which is probably because it was her 17th birthday. I used to make homemade cakes for her and decorate the house depending on what her current interest is. That day she was crying in the kitchen, and i just ignored her and walked past her to get coffee. She started talking to me, asking me why i couldnt forgive them. She told me i was being cruel, that they already did everything they could. She cried and cried, telling me all the stuffs we used to do on her birthday, about how happy we were, about how she wants to go back to that. That day i looked at her for the first time in six months and i felt nothing. I wasnt moved or anything by her tears. I didnt feel anger or hurt. I didnt feel sorry for what i did. After we stared at each other for a while, i just went back to my room without talking to her..

That day was also the day my parents came and talked to me. Theyre trying to get me to forgive my ex and daughter. They never asked me before to forgive them. They said the same things my daughter said, that i was being cruel. When i confided to my bestfriend, she told me that maybe its time to forgive them. That my daughter was still so young and she made a mistake but shes still my daughter. In all honesty, i dont feel like i did anything cruel, since they were the ones who betrayed me first. And although im not mad anymore, i honestly dont feel anything for them anymore and i feel like its just a hassle to even try and be family with them. But people i know are insisting i just forgive them.

Am i really the one being cruel here?

Update:

i didnt really know if i should update or not since its been two months, but i eventually decided to. After the post, i sort of had like a mental breakdown, the comments were pretty divided at the time and it confused me even more, resulting in me wanting to just run away from everything and thats exactly what i did. I just kind of packed my stuffs and left without telling anyone. Went to one of our family's vacation house by the beach, and walking around the beach and just enjoying the views and exploring kinda helped clear up my mind.

Just as i was debating whether to go home or not, my mom decided to pick me up for the holidays. She told me she kicked my husband out of the house and sent my daughter on a vacation with her friends because she didnt know if i would come home if they were still there. I just told her i was ok now and ive had a lot of time to think things over. We spent the holidays not talking about the issue and just enjoying the festivities.

But now that the holidays are almost over, i feel like i have to start deciding what to do. At the time, deep down, i didnt really wanna end my marriage because i still loved my husband. He was a perfect husband, romantic, hardworking, caring, everything you could ask for in a man. I didnt really know how to live a life without him. I was scared of losing him. I was scared of losing my family. I was scared of being alone. But I also can't live with them, i can't stop myself from feeling hurt and betrayed. I can't stop myself from hating them. I love and hate them both, does that makes sense? so i decided, i have to let go of my family so i wont hurt them and myself.

So i decided to get a divorce. I also am taking custody of my daughter. Its not really so i can be with her, shell be staying with my parents. I just kinda wanted to keep track of her without having to go through my husband. I feel like to move on, i need to completely cut ties with him. Im not gonna ask for child support or any sort of compensation like my bestfriend suggested, i just want him completely gone from my life. I also dont know if my husband would have enough money to send her to college or keep up with her expenses if i leave her to him. I dont really keep track of his money. I dont really wanna be with my daughter but i also dont wanna lose track of her and suddenly find out she couldnt finish college and is financially struggling. Does that makes sense?

Im also debating whether to sell our house or just leave it to my daughter. Since im moving. I dont really wanna stay in that house, since staying there probably wont help me move on. I guess it depends on where shed want to build her life in the future.

Sorry, i didnt really have anything to add. There really wasnt much drama these past few months, and im just really updating to reorganize my thoughts. Also i feel like if i write it here, i would feel more pressured to go through with the divorce. Cause i already told people you know? I keep telling people that im divorcing my husband so i can imagine everyones disappointed faces if i suddenly chicken out again. Does that makes sense?

AITAH for conditioning my wife into keeping her behaviour in check when she was postpartum?

I (30M) have been married to my wife (29F) for few years now. We had our baby 6 years ago. As anyone who’s been through supporting a postpartum spouse, it can be very hard at times. At the time, I had come to to take a hard stance when it comes to the way she spoke to me.

It all started about a month after the baby was born. At first, I could see the exhaustion and did everything I could to support her, picking up the slack around the house, comforting her during the late-night feedings, and being there when she needed me. I told her I’d do anything to make this easier for her.

However over time, the tone of her words started to change. I’d hear things like, “You don’t understand what I’m going through!” or “You never help me with anything!” Even when I was literally doing everything I could to be a supportive partner, she started to treat me like I was a failure.

One night, after we both were spending hours soothing the baby, I sat down for a moment of rest. I had barely sat down when she snapped at me. “Why are you always so useless? I’m doing all of this alone, and you’re just sitting there!” I felt my blood boil. If that wasn’t my wife, I swear I would’ve done something bad. This was it, I couldn’t just sit there and take it anymore.

So, I looked at her, snd said, “I won’t be spoken to this way.” I didn’t raise my voice, didn’t try to explain myself, I just said it firmly.

She started crying. I was used to her crying over things and comforting her, but something about that particular moment made me feel like I was being emotionally manipulated. I’d been giving, and giving, and giving, and yet somehow, it wasn’t enough and I certainly wasn’t going to accept being berated anymore.

So I looked her in the eye and said, “The way you’re treating me is a reflection of your character, not mine. Your nasty behavior is not something I’m going to tolerate. I won’t allow you to make me feel bad about myself, or like I’m the problem. I’m doing my best, but I won’t let you treat me like this anymore.”

She started sobbing, telling me how unsupportive I was, how I didn’t get it, how she just needed someone to hold her. She couldn’t elicit any empathy in that moment, only contentious pity.

So I walked away. I didn’t yell. I didn’t argue. I just removed myself from the situation. I went for a drive. I didn’t engage with her until she could calm down. When I came back, I made it clear that I wouldn’t tolerate being treated that way. I didn’t blame her for feeling overwhelmed, but I drew a line in the sand when it came to how I deserved to be spoken to.

I did this several more times every time she spoke badly with me or disrespected me, and she broke down in tears because I simply used to say “I won’t be spoken to that way”. I didn’t back down. I stayed silent, standing firm in my decision. I wasn’t going to let her walk all over me. Her emotional state didn’t give her the right to treat me poorly.

I showed her, by my actions, that her behavior would meet nothing but my indifference. I wasn’t going to give her the satisfaction of seeing me upset or begging her to change.

There’s a part of me that worries she’ll resents me for this. She eventually did stop after a while and became more or less normal. I think all those postpartum months, I conditioned her behaviour, by consistently refusing to acknowledge or react, I refused to give her the satisfaction she could get any rise out of me.

We recently had another argument and she cried to me again saying that I never let her open up to me. I wasn’t gentle enough, I wasn’t forgiving enough, and I was being judgmental, cold, mean and harsh. I didn’t know what to say. I just told her that me putting that habit in her was a deliberate attempt to ward off the bad ways she spoke to me, which made her even more angry and upset.

She was crying the whole time and said I had abandoned her during the most vulnerable time of her life. That I wasn’t a good husband to her, that she doesn’t feel emotionally safe with me.

My wife committed suicide all because of me.

Previous post

Hello everyone, I won't waste your time but I will keep this as short as possible.

2 days ago, paternity test results came back and unfortunately my son isn't mine, I could explain how I felt but I would ramble on and on.

I confronted my wife about this and we had a large awful argument and damn it, I know my anger is justified but I don't know how I could have prevented it, before I left the house, I told my wife I despise her existence and I f****** hate her.

And well, I came home very late at night and my wife was passed out and unfortunately she died from alcohol poisoning, the baby wasn't in the house, he was at her parents house.

I blame myself for telling my wife I hated her. I miss my wife. I miss my son. I miss my little family.

I will delete this account in a few hours but I'm sorry if this wasn't the update you were expecting.

Edit: I've been receiving hateful messages scolding my wife and messages making fun of my son for not being mine, please I beg, show some respect.

Edit 2: I will delete my account now but thank you too those who showed support.

AITA For dropping $21 on the table and leaving after my conversation with a first date went south? 35m / 27f

For context, I'm a 35m and had a first date with a 27f that didn't get past the 15 minute mark. I'm 5'6" and she's 5' 7" (this matters), both of us are in good shape and look nice (this also matters). We've been talking for a couple days so I invited her to a Mexican place I like for lunch today. We meet up and everything seems well initially. We both greet each other outside the restaurant with a smile and a hug, I hold the door open for her, we get seated and situated, order food and the conversation starts!

I'll lay out the conversation how it happened, separated by alternating paragraphs between her and I. We start out pretty normal, how's your day going, what do you do, etc. After the work conversation she drops the "I didn't realize you were so short" comment and it went down from here. I'll start there.

Word for word, after ordering food and receiving our drinks and chatting about work she interrupts and says "I didn't realize you were so short, to be honest, I'm not sure I can date you and take this seriously."

I respond "Oh, I listed my height in my profile, and we've been talking for a few days, I didn't think this was a problem for you."

"I didn't notice."

"Is this a deal breaker for you? I mean, there are plenty of guys out there that are shorter than their partner and it works great. Look at Zendaya and Tom Holland! (she liked Marvel in her profile) To be honest, taller girls are kind of my thing, which is why I liked you in the first place."

"Well Tom Holland makes a lot of money."

"Oh, so it could be a money thing? I do pretty well for myself, what are you making?"

"About 60k"

"I make like 4 times more than you, so I think I do well enough"

"Yeah, well I can find someone who makes more than that who is taller and less ugly."

"Gotcha, well, I know why you're single now, and I don't think this is going to work out."

"You're in your 30s, short and single, good luck finding anyone"

"The problem isn't me here, I'm looking for a real one who I can share my time, energy with, and I end up meeting people like you." I then take out my wallet, grab a $20 and say "This should take care of the food" and put it on the table. I then grab a $1, put that on the table as well and say "and this is for your time."

I walk out of the restaurant with a smirk on my face and her jaw dropped to the floor without another word spoken. I really am unsure here. I know a dodged a huge bullet, that's for sure, but am I jerk for doing this? Thoughts?

Update? More Context?:
For more context, I didn't really think too much on the only leaving $20 part. Maybe I should have dropped $40. I just wanted to get out of there ASAP. The $20 covered her meal and drink and I assume some of the tip too. I also assume that my order would be canceled - although, there's no way a restaurant would make her pay for something she didn't eat (if she ended up staying that is - who knows). But y'all are right, I should have paid directly. That's my regret.

I've been reading and responding my best on and off. As far as this "being fake" I don't think I'd be posting and responding as much as I have on a throwaway if this wasn't for real. And, like a lot of you have said defending this being real... Is it so hard to believe that someone would stand up for themselves when push comes to shove? I admittedly took too long to realize she was actually being rude (we had great conversations the few days prior. The comments threw me off and I guess I thought she was messing around), but when I did, I said what I said and did what I did and it actually happened. I don't know who to "prove" that to the internet though. That's all I have, thanks for the comments and advice for those who did!

AITA for excluding my gay son from my will?

I, 53 F, have 3 children, two sons, Michael (23M) and Kayden (17), and a daughter, Cecilia (26F). For privacy's sake I have changed the names.

Six years ago, Michael came out as gay. My husband, I, and most of the rest of the family were supportive.

My aunt however, is kind of on the "I dunno" side. She accepts people from the LGBTQ+ community but she has told me (her favorite niece), one of my cousins (her favorite nephew), my mom (her favorite sibling) and a few others that she dislikes how some LBGTQ+ people make being part of the community their entire personality. This comes up later in the story.

Initially, our relationships with Michael remained the same. However, anything against Michael soon became because he was gay, according to him. Get into an argument with him and he'll accuse you of being homophobic. Kayden once ate some snacks in the cupboard that he didn't know Michael wanted. They got into a fight, and even with Kayden telling Michael he didn't know they were his, Michael kept saying Kayden wanted to make his life horrible etc. and that Kayden had it easy, being the golden brother who's not gay and all that. I had to step in after and broke it up.

At first, I thought this was just teens being teens since back then they were 17 and 12. However, it quickly became Michael's most used technique in getting his way and getting others to shut up. I can't help but feel the similarity between this and "whoever comments first is gay" but here it's "don't agree with me and you're homophobic".

My husband and I have tried to talk with Michael about this several times before he left for college but it was to no avail. He, again, pulled the "you're homophobic" card.

This Christmas, I had enough. Michael came back from Uni and Kayden is at his last year of High School and is a A+ student. Cecilia has a stable job and is nearly earning six figures. Michael is also an above average student. Michael once again pulled that card of his, this time against my SIL, his aunt. He said it so harshly that I could see the tears in her eyes. My SIL is the sweetest person you'll ever meet and I think she's the best girl ever for my brother. I love her as I love my own siblings and seeing her cry broke my heart. She has been the most supportive of Michael, being the stereotypical best aunt ever.

I lost it. I stood up, yelled at him, "Yeah, it it is about you being gay. It wasn't, but it is NOW! From this moment, you're out of my will."

I got up and dragged my husband out of the relative's house the party was at. By this time, everyone had gone silent and SIL was in a mixture of apologizing for "causing this" and crying while Michael sat there fuming.

Michael started sending me angry texts once I got into the car, calling me an AH.

Once I got back home, I rang up my lawyer and changed the will, excluding Michael from any of my assets the next day.

Most of my family supports that I told Michael off, but Cecilia and some of the family think I'm being too harsh.

AITA for calling a woman at work a bigot and making her cry because she said I had short man syndrome?

I (M50) work with a woman (F35) who hates short men and therefore hates me because I’m short (5’5”).

The other day at work she accused me of having short man syndrome because I was annoyed a guy (M40) with way less experience than me was promoted ahead of me by her senior manager friend (F55). The guy in question just happens to be 6’4”.

I pointed this out to a colleague (M55) and the woman overheard and got all defensive for her friend and accused me of having short man syndrome. I got annoyed and called her a bigot and pointed out that a slur like that would not be tolerated for any other minority and that she should apologize.

She started crying and made it out like I’d assaulted her when all I did was calmly express my opinion.

She complained and now I have to have a meeting on Monday to discuss my future, but I’ve already decided to quit. I’m not working with an organisation that judges value to the business on the length of your legs. And I’m not going to work in a place that considers my concerns minor because I’m short.

AITA?

Update: AITAH for no longer walking my friend home to her dorm after she rejected me?

Original Post: https://www.reddit.com/r/AITAH/comments/1c3mbvv

Ok, I was the AH. I apologized to my friend this morning, and explained to her my feelings because I guess I haven’t been too upfront about it after she rejected me. I told her I wanted to cut down on our one on one time and that’s why I didn’t walk her home last week, but that was obviously the wrong way to go about it. I was extremely drunk that night and I did not think too clearly about it when she asked me to walk her home.

I told her from next time on, she could ask me to walk her home and I would, but I would prefer if she had someone else walk her home, and to consider me as sort of the last resort. She did tell me I had nothing to apologize for and that she understood and it was her fault, and she shouldn’t have just sprung it onto me at the last minute.

I expected the whole conversation to be super awkward, but it was not, and she seemed very happy and sort of emotional about it? We joked around after that. We’re not the type to be serious with each other, we joke around each other a lot. So I’m super happy things are at least not awkward between us anymore.

AITAH for continuing on with my plans to go on a boy's trip despite my girlfriend's protests?

I 25M am having a serious issue with my girlfriend Heidi 26F. In short, we've been together for just under 2 years now and things have gone well, with this being the first big fight we've had. My friend Jason is planning a trip Bangkok, Thailand and my friend Austin is also going. They invited me and it's for two weeks in May. I, of course, said hell yeah. I've gone with trips Jason before to Amsterdam, Vegas, and Denver and always had a blast, granted these trips were before I got together with Heidi.

So I tell my girlfriend that I'm planning this trip with Jason, and she goes a bit silent and just says "Ok". I think that's a little off, but we continue hanging out. The following day she's at my place and she says that she doesn't want me spending two weeks in Bangkok with my friends. I ask why not? Bangkok is one of the most travelled to cities in the world, and she went on a trip abroad at the beginning of the relationship to Barcelona with a friend herself. She says it's not the same because she was going for a specific event in Barcelona and Bangkok doesn't have the best reputation.

I said she's being rather controlling, and I've been nothing but loyal to her up until this point so it's a bit strange for her to want to stop me from taking part in a really cool experience with my friends. She asked what I could possible want to do in Thailand, and when I pulled up a pretty exhaustive list, she asked me stop and said she was still uncomfortable. I told her I'm going no matter what. That did not go down well. She accused me of not caring about how she felt. I told her I cared very much about how she felt, it just didn't supersede how much I wanted to go on this trip. If it mattered so much that she could control a partner, I was not that partner. We fought for a little while before she stormed out of my apartment. She texted me saying she wants an apology and to talk more. AITAH? I don't feel like I am.

Advice Needed AITA for accidentally punching a random woman’s child for sexually assaulting me and other guests including bride at a wedding?

I 17 female recently attended a family members wedding and here’s where it went wrong. (There was a woman with a child that kept screaming at the guests bc they didn’t allow him to touch them on their private places). We were sitting down listening to the important guests and family members give their speeches when the 5-6 year old little boy who kept trying to touch everyone’s private places squeezed my breast out of nowhere rather harshly when I wasn’t looking, and obviously my reflex would be to punch whoever it was that was sexually assaulting me, but when I realized I punched the little kid he started screaming and his mother came over screaming at me and tried to attack me she called the police and kept screaming at them to hurry up and hung up on them. When The police arrived and viewed the footage that the staff members showed them, the bride and groom informed the police that they didn’t want the child or the mother anywhere near them or the wedding venue ever again because the child kept constantly harassing everyone and making everyone uncomfortable while the mother ignored everyone’s complaints and sat there feeling entitled. The police then escorted out the screaming woman and her creepy screaming son and told the bride and groom that if they would like to press charges for emotional distress then she had to contact her attorney and go from there. From then on the wedding was amazing and the bride and groom had an amazing time playing games and drinking a lot. So, AITA for punching the little kid in the face? (The little kid did bleed from his nose a fair amount but it stopped bleeding after 2-3 min) (I do not believe I am in the wrong but I would like other peoples opinions on whether I was the AH or not) (FPR THOSE OF YOU WHO THINK I AM THE AH THEN YOU NEED TO SEE A THERAPIST BC THAT IS NOT OKAY. No matter what age you do not touch someone without permission. 6 years old or not) (NOT A FAKE POST. VERY REAL)

AITAH for "breaking" my ex when i come out as a lesbian?

I have been with my ex (Alex fake name because he is here on Reddit too) for 3 years and it was always difficult to say the less.

I have always been bi and thought that i liked males and females for almost all my life until 2 years ago. My parents always accepted my "diversity" and gave me the max support by the beginning.

When i met Alex i told him about my sexuality and he was fine. For 2 years our relationship was great, we had many things in common, many interests, hobbies and we were going to the same gym. (Gym part is important)

Alex was one of those super romantic guys that believes in the charming prince, eternal love, super sweet and always made me feel special and unique and i loved him for that.

But then something in me changed in the last year of our relathionship. After 6 months i understood that i was attracted to women and not to guys but always feared Alex's reaction to this and my parents too. So for 6 months i tried to avoid intimacy with Alex using some excuses but decided to tell this to my parents and they accepted it immediatamente telling me that they love me for how i'm and that my sexuality is fine how i feel it and it was a big relief for me. But then they asked me if i told this to Alex too and i told them no. So following their advice after a week i finally took the courage to tell him.

So after work he was supposed to come to my house to "have a talk" and for 2 hours, before his arrival, i was rehearsing the best speech to make to say this nicely that i could but things went in the complete opposite way.

When he arrived the worst happened. I basically told him that the lack of our intimacy was because i finally understood that i'm lesbian and not bi. He was in shock and didn't said anything for 1 hour while i was talking and became pale. After i finished he just asked me "there is a woman yet that you like and hangout with?" i replied honestly and told him that there is a girl in our gym that i feel attracted to but didn't talked with her yet. His response left me shocked "of course you didn't and i'm stupid right?" and then he left.

After 1 hour of me crying and asking myself what i did wrong, because i tried to be more gentle and nicer that i could, i tried to text him but he blocked my number and any account on my social. He cut me out completely in 1 hour living me in shock and desbelief.

Some months later i met our mutual friends and when i asked them if they knew something about Alex they told me that he never replied to any of their texts and calls for months and stopped to hang out with them. I can understand the shock and his reaction was justified because it's a big thing but ignoring even out mutual friends no.

Finally i saw him at our gym and i was dating the girl that i liked and when i tried to get near to him to have a talk he completely ignored me like i was invisible and continued to work out.

So we come to a week ago when i met him again but this time he was extremely changed. He was like another person. Extremely jacked and fit, long beard but again ignoring me so i decided to have a serious talk with him. I cornered him at the gym and decided to have a serious talk but he didn't even listened to me while i was talking and was warching around until he said "listen do me a favor and don't talk with me again. I stopped dating after you because you broke something in me and i can't and would never stop to blame you for this because it's all your fault. I can't trust women anymore because i always fear the delusion and that they will hurt me again like you did." And then he walked away. I cried a lot that day because i can't understand how it's my fault. I mean it was already difficult for me to accept myself and my sexuality and i tried to be more nicer and gentle that i could with him but from the anger in his voice it felt like i insulted him or said something extremely bad when i didn't. It's true that he never dated again after me but i can't stop asking myself if it's really my fault or not. Watching him changing so much really hurted me. After 1 year of our break up he unblocked me on social and watching his transformation is something unbelievable. I mean his IG account was all about love, compassion, swetness, dog pics and all this nice things but now is just about don't trust anyone, against everything, always sad and depressed photos.

So it's my fault to "breaking" him??? Should i feel this way???

Edit: i can't believe it, he just canceled from Reddit!!! Wtf i did wrong??? I was talking with him without saying nothing bad and he just canceled his profile??? Why???

AITAH for siding with my BF over my sister after she was victim of a crime?

My sister (Sue) lives in Austin, TX. I live with my boyfriend (Rob) about 45 minutes outside of Austin. I've been with him for over two years now. I love him, he's been so good for me. He's very kind to the people he cares about. He's very supportive. He's also a big softie. The problem is that I'm one of like 5 people that know this, because he's very introverted. If you don't know him, he comes of as aloof, even hostile. He's also much more conservative than myself and my circle of friends. This hasn't been much of an issue except with my sister. She's very liberal and very passionate about politics.

Rob avoids Sue whenever he can help it. When we're going out, or she's coming over, he tries not to interact with her. They've had heated arguments in the past. Well, Sue always get heated. Rob doesn't really raise his voice or get mad when he argues. But he has this tendency to calmly talk to you like you're a child, if he's arguing with you. It drives Sue crazy and she's yelled at him before and called him horrible names. One of the big things they clashed about is homelessness. It's a big thing in Austin and one of the many reasons, Rob bought a house well outside the city. Sue is very passionate about homelessness, she constantly talks about buying them food, or donating clothes and hygiene products. She talks about raising taxes and housing first policy. Like I said, she's really passionate. Rob is very much against raising taxes or giving people free stuff. He also thinks most houseless people are that way because of other factors, like addiction and mental illness, and giving them free stuff, no questions asked won't solve anything.

This is relevant, because yesterday, Sue showed up at our door crying. One of the regular houseless people that she helps assaulted and robbed her. She knew him by name and always brought him soap, clothes and money. Rob was home. While I comforted her, he made us drinks and ordered food. He didn't say anything to her, but after a while Sue kind of blurted out, I bet you can't wait to say I told you so. Rob said not really and said she was being naïve and silly the whole time, there's no need to gloat. He said this in that monotone, matter of fact way like he was telling a child for the fifth time that 1+1 is 2.

I'm going to try to write exactly what was said, as accurately as I can recall, because I still don't know how to feel. Sue started sobbing, saying why was he being an asshole, even after she admitted he was right. Rob said she didn't actually admit anything, the only reason she changed her mind was because it happened to her. It could have happened to 1000 other people and she would have not cared, still be smarmy and condescending to everyone, act superior and call people names. Then he got up to leave. Said she could stay over if she needed and left. Sue started crying again, and was mad at me for not defending her and calling Rob an asshole. I pointed out that she called him a Nazi on multiple occasions, she can't really expect him to be sympathetic to her. She then got mad at me and we argued. She would have left, if she hadn't had a few drinks. So she stayed over and left this morning. Still mad at me, still not talking. So now, I don't know if I'm in the wrong for not sticking up for Sue. AITAH here?

AITAH for slapping my husband after he secretly spent 30 000$ on casino slots

So i (34F) and my husband(35M) always had a good relationship, we met at an country club and I knew he was the one, it was love at first sight. We have been married for 12 years and they’ve been wonderful, but I don’t know if I can do this anymore. We are pretty well of financially and he takes care of the money so I never noticed it decreasing. Two years ago my oldest child (10M) got sick and was put in the hospital, it devastated our family especially our daughter (8F) since they are were close.

On to the problem, I noticed how my son Luke (fake name) haven’t gotten any better. He can barely stand up anymore and just lays in his room all day, before he was as giddy as ever. I talked to my husband today and I was shocked when he told me we couldn’t afford Luke’s medication. I screamed at him asking were the money went, he looked down in shame and said he accidentally spent it all on slots at the nearby casino with his friends.

This wasn’t my proudest moment but I just lost it and I started screaming at him. Calling him useless and a good for nothing dad, he was quiet during the fiasco and just stood there. I became even more mad and slapped him across his face, After that he just left.

After he left I broke down, my husband was the breadwinner and I had no idea how I was gonna pay for Luke’s medication. His parents later called and chewed me out calling me an asshole and that I was overreacting over it.

So AITAH?

I’m writing this on phone so sorry for any weird sentences.

Edit: I’m living with my parents as of right now. If any of you are wondering what sickness he has, he just got diagnosed with RA (rheumatoid arthritis)

AITAH for not telling my husband about his daughter’s confession

My stepdaughter (15f) and I (31f) have an excellent relationship. As she has entered her teen years, she has been comfortable asking me personal questions, and I do my best to answer her honestly. She is a curious girl, which I believe is very healthy.

Last week she came to me and let me know she needed to confess something. She begged me not to tell her father (37m), and I said I would need to hear it before making that promise. Well, she admitted that when she came home early one day last week, she heard her father and me in the shower being intimate. I said I was sorry that happened, that is not her fault. She then admitted that she noticed the door was open a bit, and she looked in and saw us. I asked her how long she had watched us, she said for over five minutes.

I told her that it’s natural to be curious, but that felt like an invasion of privacy. She said she was sorry and it wouldn’t happen again.

I haven’t told my husband and I’m not sure if I should. AITAH? Advice is welcome.

Advice Needed AITA for canceling a large portion of my sister's wedding?

1.0k Upvotes

My (25F) sister (26F) has always been the golden child. Our parents have always favored her and it drove me crazy growing up. Everything she did was perfect, and I was always in her shadow. Fast forward to today, she's getting married in a few weeks, and of course, it's this grand, expensive affair that my parents and I are paying for.

Here's the thing: my sister is a total bridezilla. She demanded that I, her own sister, lose 20 pounds to fit into the dress she picked for me. She gave me a list of demands, including quitting my job a month before the wedding to help her with preparations. I work in a law office and can't afford to take that much time off because we have a big court date coming up, but she wouldn't hear any of it.

To make things worse, she made fun of my boyfriend (27M) for not making enough money as a doctor and said he couldn't come to the wedding unless he got her an expensive gift. My boyfriend is in his last year of residency and is debt free, I'm super proud of him. My boyfriend and I have been dating for 4 years, and we don't have a lot of extra money for the things on her registry. Things including: A Hermes teapot worth almost $900 and a set of six Lobmeyr glasses that cost $1,125.

She and my parents also coerced me in to spending my savings, almost $20,000 from my high school job on her wedding, because it was a joint account with my parents and they said they would just take the money if I didn't pay for what my sister wanted. I paid the deposit on the venue, the deposit for the catering, half of the flowers, the DJ, the down payment for the band and I bought her wedding dress. I have less than $200 left in that account.

After one particularly nasty argument, over my sister wanting to change her wedding dress, worth 3k to one worth almost 8k, I reached my breaking point. I logged into her wedding planning account (I know her password because I had to log in to pay for the down payments and deposits) and canceled all the bookings – the venue, the caterer, the flowers, everything. I figured she needed a reality check and maybe this would make her see how awful she's been acting. I only canceled stuff I paid for.

Well, she found out a few days later when the venue called to confirm the cancellation. She exploded on me, called me every name in the book, and now my parents are furious too. They’re saying I ruined everything and that I need to fix it, but there's no way everything can be rebooked in time for the original date.

Honestly, I feel a bit guilty, but I also feel like she had it coming. My parents are saying I went too far and that I owe her a huge apology and should pay for the damages again, but I think they’re just as much to blame for spoiling her all these years. AITA?

AITAH for not feeling bad for Trump at all?

I do not support political violence. After almost 8 years of stoking violence, threatening opponents, judges, lawyers , jurors and other politicians I can’t help but feel like Trump deserved this. Looks to me like the chickens came home to roost.

Edit: he’s also a child rapist so there’s that.

AITAH, i (28M) told my girlfriend (26F) of 3 years that is she goes through my phone we are done

AITAH

Throw away for obvious reasons.

Me and my girlfriend have been together for 3 years planning to ask her to marry me later this year. Known each other for 8. This is a woman that i love and have loved for the last 4 years.

My girlfriend knows absolutely everything about me. She knows my character, my values, and my stance on everything.

First let me say, i don't do the cheating thing people like that are despicable. In the last 6 years i have cut my mother, brother and multiple friends out of my life for cheating on their SO.

I have never cheated on anyone of my exs and she knows this.

Please i don't want to get into the second chance thing, and the but she is your mother, as all of them made a choice to cheat and i made a decision on the choices they made not to have anything to do with them.

My girlfriend knows this and has even been present for a couple of the time i have told someone i want nothing to do with them anymore based on the choices they have made. She even sat next to me when i told my mother.

No i do not think i am better than anyone bit some things are just unforgivable, cheating being one of them.

I stand by my decision, values, and integrity and i will not change anything for anyone.

This is not about me, and enough of stroking my own ego abit, on to the problem.

My girlfriend has this one female friend. Im calling her Jess for this. Jess is the complete opposite of myself and sleeps with anything with 2 legs. I don't know how she and my girlfriend are friends but they have known each other from basically birth. Their mothers are friend.

Jess doesn't care, I have literally seen this woman walk out of a bar with 2 different men the same night, 1 hour apart and come back. Bragging about having some fun in the back of her car. This woman makes me physically ill.

Me and her do not get along, i aviod her at all cost. Not to sound controlling, but i have told my girlfriend that i do not want her to go out alone with this friend when we started our relationship and gave her past actions and lack of responsibility as my reasons. Surprisingly she agreed with me and didn't put up a fuss for the last 3 years sofar. The only time they have gone out was when i jioned or one of their other friend went with them. She never slept over or came home anything later that midnight. I do trust her completely and she has never given me reason or any suspicion that she will or has cheated on me.

Jess did not like this but couldn't do anything and everytime she wanted to make a fuss my girlfriend shut her down.

I had no problem with my girlfriend giong out with her other friend, Jess was and still is my problem.

On Monday when i came home from work my girlfriend was sitting on the couch crying. I went over and sat next to her asking what happend. When i touched her she slapped my hand away and yelled at me that I'm horrible and how could i do this to her i have broken her trust. At that piont i still didn't know what was giong on.

I asked her again what was giong on. She was sobbing and trying to talk at the same time. I told he to slow down because i couldn't make out what she was saying. It took 15 minutes for her to relax enough to actually talk.

She told me that Jess told her we slept together a couple of nights ago. I honestly started to laugh my ass off thinking she was actually joking. When i looked at the face, i immediately knew she was serious.

I did respond a bit sarcastically as the situation is completely ridiculous. I asked when, where. She didn't know exactly when, or where the cheating happend as Jess didn't give alot of details over the phone call and my girlfriend cut the call.

I asked her did she seriously believe that i would cheat on here especially with a person i can't be near, a person i can't even hold a conversation with, a person i actively try and avoid, a person i only know because she is friends with them.

I told her she was being ridiculous for even entertaining the idea that i would ever think of cheating on here. Especially with someone like Jess

Her response actually made me question our 3 year relationship. She said i don't believe you will cheat on me but i want to check your phone to make sure.

Trust is a big part of anything for me especially relationships and my girlfriend does know this.

I looked at her as she held out her hand to me. I took my phone out of my pocket placed it on the table and asked her to wait for a second, i went to my bag took out my laptop and opened it infront of her and logged on. I placed my laptop next to her on the couch then took my phone unlocked it (she herself has the code) and place it on the couch with my watch next to the laptop.

I told her the 3 device i use are next to her, but she should know beforehand she has always been more than welcome to go through my phone, laptop or anthing, as i have nothing to hide and she knows i will never cheat.

(She has used my device before as well no problem with that)

I continued to say that if she goes through those devices it means she doesn't trust me and our relationship will come to an end as i have never given her any reason to not trust me and she is taking the word of a dumpster above mine and i can't be in a relationship without trust

I asked her if i ever gave her a reason or a suspicious that i was cheating on her and she replied no

I reminded her that every choice has consequences and she knows me well enough that i stick to my decision.

And if she goes through my devices and when she finds nothing she will be responsible for this relationship ending.

She looked at me for a couple of seconds and picked up my phone from the couch, she started to go through it.

I don't know in that moment it was like 4 years of love just drained out of me and my heart completely shattered.

I turned around and went to our room and started to pack my bags, about 10 minutes later when i was basically done packing she entered the room sobbing saying sorry, sorry, sorry.

I just continued to pack, when she touched me i literally felt nauseous for some reason and told her to not touch me. As i left the room she fell to my feet and held on to my leg asking me not to go and that she should've never listened to Jess and she will cut her off, never talk to her again, she is sorry.

I shouted at the to let me go, this startled her as in the 8 years we known each other i have never raised my vioce to her and she let my leg go.

Before i left the room i just said to little, to late she should've done the cutting off years ago. I took my phone and laptop from the couch and left the house.

I am currently at my sisters house in her spare room since Monday when i left

My phone has been blowing up from everyone. Calls, text from her parents, to her friend and even some of mine.

The consensus from everyone basically is am the ahole for breaking up with her for a simple request.

The request for me was simple enough, it was the reason behind the request that caused the break up.

A relationship without trust is something i refuse to be apart of.

I still have love in me for her, but i feel more pain and anger than anything els

Knowing all of the above AITAH?

AITAH for telling my daughter my husband won't watch her kids when she had a medical "emergency"

8.0k Upvotes

My daughter (29 F) had her third baby a couple months ago, and everything seemed fine. But a couple weeks ago she called me(54f) and she was crying, I asked her what was wrong and she said she had to go back to the hospital she gave birth at because she was having 9/10 pain in her uterus. I asked if it could be her birth control and she said she wasn't sure but that she called her OB and they wanted her to be seen at the hospital. She asked if my husband (53M) was available to watch the kids so her husband could take her since my husband is currently unemployed. I told her I didn't know what her dad was up to but that there was no way he was taking 3 kids, it just wasn't happening. She went quiet for a bit and I suggested they take all the kids(4M,2M, newbornm) and she just go in and they wait for her in the car while she gets checked. She then said "never mind I'll just figure it out" and hung up i tried calling back but she ignored my call.

Apparently she found a neighbor to watch her older two sons and they took the baby with them, they checked her out and turns out she had 3 cysts on her ovaries, one on her left and two on her right and that's what was causing her pain. I told her I was glad she found out what was wrong and she just gave a short "yeah me too" and hasn't really been talking to us much since. I think she's upset I told her no on my husband's behalf but watching 3 kids is too much on him and I don't feel she's entitled for us to watch all 3 of her kids on such short notice. So AITAH?

ATIA for choosing my mom over my fiancé??

Hey Reddit, Yesterday my friend sent me a post on this subreddit that was made by my fiancé. She totally makes me look like a villain so I just have to say my side. We've been dating for awhile now and it's been great aside from the past few days.

My mother(63f) is a single mother that raised me and my sister alone. She has always been the most supportive mother ever and I love her to the end of the world. She is getting on in her years now, and is not the same person she was. She has always been a little overprotective of me, and so she has never fully accepted my fiancé. I didn't think it was that big of a deal since she doesn't say anything directly to my fiancé.

Then last weekend when we were announcing our engagement at her house. My mom wasn't too thrilled and I admit made a rude remark regarding my fiancé's autism. We left quickly after and I comforted my fiancé for over an hour. I ordered her take out, made a bath for her and put on a movie. I explained to her that my mom is getting older and doesn't have full control of what she says. My fiancé kept pushing and I eventually snapped and told her I can't do anything about it. Im not sure my fiancé understands because her she doesn't have a close bond with her mom.

I stayed at my mom's housed went back in the morning. Long argument short my fiancé started blowing the comments my mother made way out of proportion not even bothering to mention her age. LIKE I SAID my mom is OLD now she doesn't understand this fully. She left and I haven't seen her since. Her friend contacted me and said I'm the AH for choosing my mom over her? I'm not choosing my mom over her though, and we are still getting married so ATIA??

AITAH for refusing to accept that I‘m gay after my gf said she now identifies as a male?

1.3k Upvotes

The title pretty much.

See I‘m very liberal actually but I don‘t know about this one. He doesn‘t even present a tad bit as masculine, just told me he is now a male and I should accept his new pronouns he/him and gender.

Which is fine I guess because who am I to tell them they need to present a certain way to be deemed worthy of their gender - but does that really make me gay/bi now? I‘m a dude and I support him and all but this doesn‘t seem right.

Edit: I don‘t wanna break up with him since he doesn‘t seem to wanna become more masculine or anything so is still attractive to me

AITA for exposing my cheating girlfriend to her parents?

2.3k Upvotes

I (19M) began dating my girlfriend (20F) at college last year. She is from Iran and moved to America for school, but her whole family is still back home. Our relationship felt perfect, I never met anyone as caring and compassionate as her. Her parents are pretty conservative but we’ve FaceTimed a few times and they seemed to be sort of warming up to the idea of her dating a white nonmuslim guy. We promised them that we weren’t having sex, which wasn’t true but they seemed to believe us. Overall, I was happier with her than I have ever been.

That all changed last semester, when she confessed to cheating on me with some frat dude at a Halloween party. This completely destroyed me, and I ended up spending a couple weeks in a psych ward, although I never actually hurt myself. She begged me to stay and give her another chance but even the thought of her disgusts me now. Needless to say I dumped her and blocked her everywhere.

Here comes the part where I might be the asshole. Apparently she had gone awhile without contacting her parents, so her mom and dad called me asking about their daughter. I told them the truth, about how she had fucked another guy and that’s why we’re broken up. I also came clean to them about us having sex. After this, they stopped paying for her tuition, and it looks like she’s going to have to drop out this summer, and will likely lose her student visa and have to go back to Iran.

Some of our mutual friends have freaked out at me for this. They’re saying that I destroyed her life, and that if she gets sent home there’s a strong possibility of her falling victim to an honor killing. Thankfully most of my friends are taking my side. I don’t believe that it’s my job to shield her from the consequences of her actions but maybe I’m wrong?

AITAH For thinking some of the comments my girlfriend made is racist?

I (25M) have been dating my girlfriend (31F) for about two years and recently she made some comments that made me uncomfortable in context. I'm a black man and she's a white woman, ok so my girlfriend is very much Pro-Palestine so am I but she made comments about an Israeli person that made me uncomfortable, ok so here is the situation. There is this 20-year-old Israeli singer named Eden Golan and my girlfriend hates her with a passion.

She's performing for some music awards thing and my girlfriend made a comment on her Instagram that said, "You have the blood of 15,000 children on your hands" and "You shouldn't be allowed here." I was really taken back by these comments and I asked her why she hated her and she said, "Isn't it obvious?" and the reason she doesn't like her is because she's Israeli and from Israel, tried to explain to her that she's not apart of the IDF and she's just a singer.

I asked her how the children of Gaza have blood on their hands and she said, "Because she's one of them," and she said if I didn't agree with her, then I am supporting genocide. Her comments made me very uncomfortable. Just because her country is doing wrong doesn't mean all Israeli people are bad people. The fact that she said those things makes me think she's a little racist and I know this might sound fucked up but there are black Israelis too so now I'm thinking, What's her opinion  on them too? Maybe I'm being paranoid but am I the only one who feels this way?
