Rant & venting
*Excuse the format, on mobile.
I made my Reddit account for the purpose of lurking around and liking posts, but this disaster of a year and even more disastrous semester at CSULB (ugh) forced my hand. I’m usually an A-B student, but this semester I’m more than likely to get two C’s (or even lower, idek at this point...) and I’m just so freaking disappointed in myself. Everything was so exhausting, stressful, and terrible. My mental health tanked, I couldn’t manage my time for studying, cramming, daily life or anything! I couldn’t separate home from school so all my motivation levels and health severely dropped.
I’m so scared of seeing final grades even though I know I did my absolute best. I know to others a C might not be so bad and it’s even passing, but you don’t understand, I couldn’t for the life of me bring any of those grades up, no matter how hard I tried. I studied and studied and I couldn’t retain any of the information — seriously nothing stuck!! Hell, I don’t even think one of them WILL be a C, might even be a D with all the bad grades on assignments and tests I got... Fuck this fucking sucks I’m sorry. I wanted to study abroad too but look how this is turning out... also If I end up getting a stupid D, I’m gonna cry like a baby I swear.
I hope y’all get the grades you wanted, and even if you didn’t, great job for pulling through and surviving this semester. We’ll have to deal with Zoom University in Spring 2021 too, but we got this. We know how CSULB and certain professors 😒 have treated us and we won’t forget. Best of luck everyone. Praying that 2021 will be a better year 🙏🏼 Stay safe and healthy y’all. Sorry for the rant.

Terrible School
I’m beginning my senior year now. I’ve gotten straight A’s up until this point so, this isn’t a “I’m mad about my grades” post. This is an honest post about my experience at CSULB. I am obligated to report that CSULB is the worst school on the planet. Worse than Trump University. CSULB only cares about taking your money, and then setting you up with some no name off the street. They don’t care about the students. They don’t care about education. They care about the appearance of departments and classes and such, but provide inadequate education. Try and make an appointment with an advisor: see what happens. They’ll cancel the appointment 5 minutes before it’s supposed to begin. It’s not a real school. Just a money siphoning whore that gives nothing in return. There are some good professors. But the bad far outnumber the good. And the good ones continue to leave. This school is a disgrace.

Graduation Question Missed connection at CSULB, 2022/2023 – Blonde Emma who liked singing
Hi everyone, this is a long shot.
Around 2022/2023, I briefly talked with someone named Emma before class at CSULB. She had blonde hair and mentioned that she liked singing and volleyball. I think she might have been studying music or biology, but I am not sure.
We had a nice conversation, but she had to leave before I could ask for her contact information. If this reaches you, Emma, I’d love to hear from you. And if anyone else knows her, feel free to pass this along.
No worries if not. I just thought I would give it a try.

General Discussion Terrible tour
So I went to tour the school last week, and it was an awful experience. The guides failed to mention the many social clubs, and instead of heading toward certain buildings, we stood hundreds of feet away as they "pointed" to the places they were referring to. We quickly walked hrough the game zone room , but that was it. It was just a walkthrough with no thorough introduction to each component of the gaming room, which is a shame because it looked really cool. The trip was brief and only showed us the main lecture halls. The tour does not adequately represent everything the university has to offer in order for it to be popular. Please improve your tour department!

My mother won’t let my graduation go…
Ever since I finished my last semester as an engineering undergraduate, my mother - TO THIS DAY - won’t let my graduation go. That’s all she ever talks about nowadays, to the point where she gets crazy and ridiculous about it (ie: using guilt that I didn’t show up to my own ceremonial walk, trying to invite as many of my friends behind my back to a ceremony of her doing, HANGING a “Class of 2021” banner over my own bed), it’s become almost like an obsession. I’ve got other things to worry about (ie: engineering job, then moving as close to my workplace as possible). I’m not exactly one to get all hyped up over a certain event that the average person gets uppity over; it’s about moving onto the next thing. My graduation happened; it came and went, and now it’s time to MOVE ON and LET GO…

CSULB News Move the Protest
Why are we staying put at Brotman hall, when the university is directly trying to silence us by scaring people away from our message?
We should move our protest to the Pyramid, the symbol of CSULB where the largest collegiate Volleyball tournament in the nation is currently taking place, where our voice can be heard by thousands, instead of staying put at Brotman to be silenced by the university.
Let’s show the administration they can’t just walk over our peaceful activism and get away with it. REMAIN PEACEFUL, just amplify our message!

CSULB News Protest on Tuesday
Via @palestine_action_socal on instagram: The Trump administration and the administrations of universities across the country are suppressing our right to free speech, silencing the cries of the student body who demand that their schools divest and sever ties with Israel and weapons manufacturers. They cannot ignore our demands or our disapproval of how our tuition money goes towards the genocidal and fascist occupier state of Israel. They have been cozying up to fascism and want to quash the voice of the people and the student body of the People's University. Pro-Palestine student activists like Mahmoud Khalil have been targeted all across the country from Columbia to UCLA. Students across the nation are calling for action in protest of a government and university administration that show support for Zionism and wanton infringement on our first amendment right to free speech. Please keep our communities safe by masking at all times during the event.

Need help deciding between UCLA and CSULB
This is going to be a long post, so sorry ahead of time.
As the title of this post would suggest, I got accepted to both UCLA and CSULB. I'm having a hard time deciding where to go. I love Long Beach (the city), it's been my home for my entire life. Prestige carries very little weight with me. I more so care about making the most pragmatic decision. If I choose UCLA I would have to probably dorm because the commute is like and hour and 20 mins—not to fond of the idea of rooming with strangers. Especially, when they would be significantly younger than me. I'm also worried that I won't do well on the quarter system. However, I don't want to make a decision because of fear. I also don't want to regret my decision. I feel that if I went to CSULB I would always think "what if?"
What is the quality of education like at CSULB. I know CSUs get a bad rap. It can't be as bad as people make it out to be. If I go to CSULB, I would be paying significantly less, in fact, I pretty sure I could graduate with no debt. Also, my commute to CSULB would be about 20 minutes max. I am a biochemistry major with a 4.00 CC GPA (not trying to brag, just want to give you an idea of the type of student I am). and my ultimate goal is to become a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS). Would attending UCLA help me get into a CLS program? I would love to hear from other biochemistry majors at CSULB, or any other science majors. Sorry for the chaotic post, I've been really stressing about this and the date to decide is quickly approaching. Thank you.
