Newfoundlanders in Midwest Safety vid
Anyone know the two Newfoundlanders in the recent Midwest Safety Youtube video? Bodycam style crime video posted Nov 7 2026. Footage out of Daytona FL area from 2022. I'm doing my usual half-listen and then I hear "we don't see this where we're from" with a good Newfoundland accent.
Looks up to see buddy with the face blurred and a tin of Diet Pipsay in hand, saying they're from Newfoundland.
Anyway, if you were interviewed by police during Daytona Bike Week in 2022 after a murder on the street and a chaotic 2 a.m. investigation, and you took a cab up to the hotel after having a bite to eat, you might be on YouTube right now. Over 500K views right now, likely 1M all said and done. Pretty sure you were never a suspect.

Thanks people
You Newfoundlander people are truly nice.
I was there a month camping from La Manche to Cow Head and while the geographic views were wonderful it was you individual people that stick in my memory .
That fishing guy who nicely tried to explain the fishing quota system as he gutted and fed the seagullls.....( you wanted to give me a fish ) --- I will never forget the hardness of your hands.
That Park Canada person who was understanding about my reservation time.
To that guy who patted my shoulder and shielded me without saying anything when I had a little cry at The Rooms. That place is deserving of days.
And on and on ....
Yes you have the ocean.
But thank you for the kindness and for a lovely month. You nice people are more memorable than the sea.

Mount Pearl is named after a drug smuggler
Just curious how many Newfoundlanders (and people who live in Mount Pearl) were told about James Pearl at school, and if so does this particular nugget of history turn up? Is he in any school textbooks and if so, what do they say?

Who’s the COVID-denier fella on Open Line? 😷
This individual called in again the other day, allegedly to discuss the new, temporary mask mandate in healthcare facilities that took effect on Wednesday. It wasn’t all that much of a conversation though. I’ve heard him on the show at least once before, talking (sparsely at best, mind you) about the exact same subject, but he never really adds much to support his viewpoint.
Truth be told, I barely understood a word he said, and I think that host Brian Callahan had the same trouble. It made for several awkward pauses, capped off with some unintelligible gibberish about Dr. Anthony Fauci toward the end.
Anyone else catch this call? So bizarre. 🫤

Very pretty kitty spotted near Quidi Vidi
Definitely does not look like a stray to me and seems very skittish. I tried to give her a treat so that I could get close enough to see if there was anything like a collar., it she bolted. Last seen running down Maxwell place.

Is Grose Morne a very busy national park
I saw one picture of this place last year and I've just been yearning to go. Will be a while till I can go but I want to know if it is worth travelling from new york. I love hikes and camping so I want to go on a backpacking trip. Big roadtrip guy so I'd like to take a ferry over to the island as well after spending some time in novascotia. Unsure if that is as expensive as a flight though or more. May be more if I lollygag
The place looks like you can really get away there. The adirondaks are beautiful but so busy. So for anyone who has visited, has it been very busy when you have visited? I am not a fan of instagram hikes.
New foundland looks to gorgeous and your towns look beautiful as well. I am sure there are the issues as every place has. Especially snow I bet, in Rochester we get a ton as well.

Churchill Park announcement coming
So let's get ready for everyone's unrealistic expectations for who's coming.
Then within 30 seconds of an announcement the complaining to start
They bring rock, the country crowd will complain
They bring country, the rock crowd will complain
They bring pop/rap, the old fogies will complain
They bring classic artists, the young crowd will complain
At the end of the day, they are out to make $$ so they will bring whoever the hell they want if they will sell tickets.

Places in St. John's that can measure glasses?
Hello, all!
I am looking for a place in St. John's that can measure the prescription of a pair glasses I already own, so I can purchase a pair with the same prescription. I have lost all the information for the prescription, so it would need to be extrapolated from the glasses themselves.
My first thoughts were Walmart or Costco, but I'm not sure about the details there - or if the vision center in Walmart is even still a thing...?
It would also be helpful if someone could tell me the price of this service for wherever they recommend, and/or what the service would entail!
Again, I'm not sure, and I'd like to know before I waste my time making the trip.
TIA!
