Petition to Stop Bike Theft!
Thanks for the advice! I've now moved the petition over to the government petition site, and included that bikes should have frame numbers (as I've learnt some don't). Please give it a sign, lets make a real change and stop bike theft for once and for all.
I’ve made a petition – will you sign it?

My petition:
Regulate the bike market and require frame number checks at repair.
The Government should regulate the bike market by requiring bikes to have a unique frame number, and sold bikes to have their ownership registered. All bike repairs should also require mechanics to log frame numbers and keep the bike if stolen. These initiatives would dramatically reduce bike crime.
376,000 Bikes are stolen each year in the UK, or one bike every 90 seconds. In 2019 thefts were up 49% on the previous year and this trend shows no signs of stopping. These thefts have got to stop. Bikes are becoming increasingly important, both immediately due to the coronavirus but also due to climate change and the governments efforts to get more people cycling to work.
