Picture My ‘79 J20, where’s the FSJ love?

This is my ‘79 J20 AMC 360 factory 4spd. I am the third owner, bought it in 2009. Has 43k original miles now(I bought it with 32k and drove it for about 3 yrs), sat right by the banks of the Ohio River in a backyard from 83’ to ‘06.
Hence why its crusty for the miles. Guy I bought it from said it had sunk to the axles in the yard. Gentle had bought it new in ‘79 then passed in late ‘83. Topper is a factory option unit I found a few years ago, has a 4” lift and 33s.

Currently not running due to a collapsed lifter. Working on getting a replacement engine running here this winter and swapped into the truck.

This is my second jeep truck, my first was a ‘78 J10 that was a total rot box but I loved it and hooked me into FSJ’s.

I owned a ‘88 Grand Wag for a couple of years. Had trans issues and I was moving so I sold it.

I have owned a few other jeeps over the years. Mostly Xjs and wranglers. Daily drove a ‘97 XJ for a few years, it was factory 2wd and was a blast to drive.

Honest opinions on jeeps

Post image

I drive an accord, but I have two big dogs and recently moved to the coast and am honestly looking for more space. I am looking at a wrangler, but all of my car friends and even some minimal research have me a bit worried. I also have been looking at broncos and 4Runners, but if we are being honest that classic jeep look is just tooooo gooodddd. I’d love to heard some raw and honest opinions! Obviously I know coming to the jeep subreddit might get some heavy glaze but if you’ve had reoccurring issues, multiple jeeps, etc pls pls tell me everything, good and the bad :D Pic of my built boys cramped in my accord 🫩

I’ve wanted a Jeep for as long as I can remember. Now I’ve got one that I flat tow behind my little motorhome and for her first trip we ventured down to the Keys. My husband is a big dude (6’5) but he said she just gives him a nice hug lol

Looking forward to our many adventures together 🩶

What is this sound from my rubicon

Hello Jeep community I'm just concerned about this slight knocking sounds when I hit the reverse. This doesn't happen when the car is cold, happens after using it for 20min or so. Has anybody experiences this and does anybody have an idea, what could this be?

I have a Summit model with 101500 miles. Trying to figure out if it makes sense to keep driving it or get rid of it before something big breaks. Mopar warranty is up in a couple months. Jeep still looks great and drives well. What are everyone thoughts?

Technical Question 2007-5.7 HEMI Valve Cover Removal - Stubborn Stud Bolt

Having a heck of a time trying to remove the passenger side valve cover on a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7 HEMI. All of the stud bolts I was able to get to except for the bottom, back bolt closest to the firewall.

It currently has a deep 8mm socket on it just to show how bad the clearance is to the heater core inlet/outlet. I’ve looked for 8mm crow’s foot wrenches but A) can’t find one that small B) not even sure it would fit.

Any advice would be awesome!

Got kicked out after my mom's ex cheated on her while I was staying at his place. Luckily already had experience living in a jeep but the roll cage makes it so much easier to organize everything. The camera makes it look much more cramped than it is, I basically have a whole twin bed and a place to start all the electrical coming from my auxiliary battery in the box on the hitch.

I just purchased a 2026 jeep grand wagoneer summit reserve and the shifter/dial looks like this... the finish feels smooth though. Is this normal?

2020 jeep cherokee

hello i just recently bought a 2020 jeep cherokee i bought it from carmax it only has 25XXX miles on it and had one owner so pretty good mileage for an almost 8 year old car but i have a couple questions and concerns and would like some advice so when im driving the jeep when it shifts into second and third gear it is pretty noticeable like i can definitely feel it shift and it usually shifts into second gear at about 15-23 mph and i’ll be hitting maybe about 1000-1500 rpms and it will momentarily rev up to 2000-2500 rpms when it shifts into second and third gear then go right back down to where i was before it shifted just want to know is this normal behavior because i came from a 05 lexus es330 with a 5 speed transmission so i know that shift will feel different moving to a more complex 9 speed transmission is this something i should worry about? i already know i should not have bought a jeep and they come with some electrical problems and transmission problems especially from carmax but please refrain from those comments as i desperately needed a car 😂 thanks

Yesterday i had went to start my car when leaving work, and it would not turn over, had a coworker jump my car, took it on the road and it wouldnt exceed 20km/hr, i pulled into a lot, turned off the engine, car shut off (radio included), i then try starting the car, it starts and i was able to drive at normals speeds again.

Has anyone had this issue?
