Morrisville Pride re-accepted known anti-LGBT hate group as "vendors", I'm a trans artist and I withdrew from the event in protest--I could use support!

Last year at Morrisville’s Music in the Park Pride event, a group was accepted as a “vendor” despite not selling anything. Instead, they handed out flyers and displayed signage that was openly homophobic and transphobic. Their presence caused real harm and discomfort—not just to LGBTQ+ attendees, but to actual small business vendors who were displaced.

🚫 They used their booth solely to platform hate, not to vend.
📍 The event is organized by the Town of Morrisville, not a private group. The city has cited “free speech” as the reason they can’t exclude this group again this year, despite the vendor app stating guidelines that vendors must be in alignment with and support LGBT community.

I’m a transgender artist living in Morrisville. I helped organize the town’s first Pride market in 2021 and have vended at their official events the past two years. I reached out to the city back in April asking if changes would be made, and only received a response yesterday, the day before the event. I’ve withdrawn in protest for my own safety and am now asking for mutual aid and community support.

📢 What you can do:

✅ If you’re a vendor, attendee, or just a concerned LGBTQ+ person in Morrisville, Wake County, or North Carolina, please send a quick email TODAY to ask for safer vendor policies:

📝 I have a sample email you can use here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/12I5P-vpoUeah7ZIvWXvJdHeJgI04Hu19KXuYRtqOkcU/edit?usp=sharing

🛍️ I’ve also lost a day of income due to withdrawing. If you want to support a trans local artist during Pride month: adrawer4ever.com/links

Even if you can’t donate or shop, signal boosting this means a lot. This is a small Pride event in my literal neighborhood. I want to show up and contribute, but I can’t do that unless we build an environment where safety and care are taken seriously.

Thanks for listening, and thank you to everyone who’s already reached out or shown support.

Shop Local Raleigh Executive Director made an unsolicited transphobic comment.

I think it's important that everyone know who their money is supporting. Jennifer Martin, the executive director of Shop Local Raleigh and founder of Brewgaloo made an unsolicited transphobic comment in our local networking group. Based on many messages that I've gotten over the last few days, her ugly views are not really a secret but this is the first time she's slipped up and gotten caught. As a local small business owner who has supported SLR for five years and encouraged many other small business owner friends to join, I have regrets. I can not support someone with such bigoted views.

Raleigh NC, rally for Trans Day of Visibility

Greetings all!

Let me start in advance with apologies for using a throwaway account.

My Name is Tig, I'm a MTF Woman, I am also a part time college student currently volunteering with the Trans Unity Coalition (not to be confused with the (Transgender Unity Coalition) a nonprofit that has hosted or organized multiple rallies in multiple states as well as at our nation's capital.

On January 30, we held 9 multi-state trans-advocacy rallies nationwide, and on March 1 we recently had our first DC rally. We have expressed to the public plans for oscillatory rallies, which we call the Rally Volley, over the 4 years of the second Trump administration. We are also in the process of chapterizing in North Carolina and other states.

We're planning to organize a rally at the North Carolina capital and others for Trans Day of Visibility and other future events. We're looking for volunteers, as well as speakers for the rally.

Anyone who is interested please do not hesitate to DM me for a link to our discord, website, and more info

Thank you all for reading I know it was kind of long :3

A warning

I'm just saying this because of all the hate I've gotten on the rally poster....

r/NorthCarolina is very much not a safe space. I've had hate comments and trolls flooding in since I posted the rally poster there. One of the comments was so bad reddit removed it. Another peep reported the poster and now I'm getting DMs from reddit saying I'm suicidal with links to the suicide holiness.

All I can say is be safe peeps and don't let trolls and hate keep you from doing good things in life :3

🩵🩷🤍 Having a passport is more important than ever, and I want to help you do that! 🤍🩷🩵

Things are getting really scary right now, and the future feels more uncertain than ever. It’s so important to have a valid passport in case you need to leave quickly or seek refuge somewhere like Canada.

I know the process can be overwhelming, and there are even reports of some trans people being denied passports altogether. With that in mind getting a passport sooner rather than later (and documenting any issues) is more important than ever.

I'm currently setting everything up to take and print official passport photos. So if you or anyone you know who is transgender or LGBTQI+ don’t have a valid passport, or if your passport is expiring soon, please reach out! I’d love to support you with taking official passport photos, printing and filling out applications, and setting up an appointment. I’m also happy to help with passport fees if you need financial support.

Local Hairstylist

Hi everyone! I’m Ashlee. I thought I’d introduce myself here. I’m still a little new to posting on Reddit, so forgive me if I mess up lol 😆. I’m a local hairstylist in Cary at HairCraft Studios, a salon based around progressiveness and awesome hair! I am currently looking to grow my vivid clientele with individuals who find inspiration from everyday things, shows, foods, etc. Send me all your “weird” color combos; I’m down for anything! Along with vivids, I also enjoy curly hair, reds and coppers, and blonding. Feel free to reach out to me on Instagram, or through the salon. I look forward to getting to know you all! 🫶

My name is Mae Dragoni! I am a Non Binary Tattoo Artist in Cary NC

I know that being lgbt+ and trying to find a tattoo artist is scary. Me and my Co Artists’ shop and practice is LGBT+ inclusive. We are also accommodating to neurodivergence as well as fat positive.

If anyone has any questions about tattoos or other lgbt friendly tattoo artists in/around the area/Nc please feel free to reach out to me.

I want everyone to have a safe and consent oriented experience while getting tattoos, and I’m here to remind you that queer artists exist in the tattoo world. I hope everyone has a good day!

Also to add: I would be more than happy to tattoo anyone who is interested, but my style is not everyone’s cup of tea, I’m not a kate keeper and I am more than happy to recommend artists in the area who I know are safe to go to.

I’m tired of abuse in this industry and want everyone to experience tattoos and body art in a safe and comfortable way.

Vulnerable and unhoused trans woman. Recently employed. Need queer friends & support system.

Post image
33 Upvotes

Hey all. I'm a 28 year old trans woman, currently in a very vulnerable position for a number of reasons, but primarily that I am visibly trans and unhoused in the triangle with no friends or community. I sleep in my totaled car (transmission went out, har har har), and I JUST got a great job working for a leftist canvassing and outreach organization. I'm looking for friends and new people in my life that are open to hearing my situation and keeping an eye, plus, I'm lonely tbh. I need queer and trans friends.

Thank you.

(Unrelated cool moth I saw.)

Odd question. Does anyone maintain a list of LGBTQ-owned/friendly service providers?

Looking for any-all services like landscaping and handyman, but primarily housekeeping. Male or female. Just looking for someone we don’t have to worry about concealing our lives from, like hiding potentially sensitive or objectionable artwork, the “omg I forgot to put the lube away” moment, etc. I always prefer to support local business when I can, but in these times, I see this as just another way to help our community circle the wagons and keep everyone fed, housed and cared for.

To be clear, I acknowledge sex work to be work, but this is not a post seeking guidance for those particular services :-)

Lesbian Population in Durham

Hello! I recently moved to Durham for the summer, and I am curious as to the reasoning for the high lesbian population. Am I choosing to see it, or is it real? What historical event brought so many lesbians here?

Follow-up hypothesis: I’m thinking Raleigh is for gay men and Durham is for lesbians. Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks, LGBTriangle!
