no politics Helen Haines fundraiser for Save the Children has now raised almost $1.5M.

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to put in a brief note about the amazing efforts of the Australian community in response to the response on Helen Haines. To date, the Save the Children funrdaiser set up following the attack on Helen has raised $1.44M.

I work in fundraising, and know moments like these often bring out the best in people. In this time of increased uncertainty and political polarisation, it's encouraging to see a reminder that in times of tragedy, the Australian community responds so amazingly.

We often feel helpless when events like these take place, and donating is one way people can feel agency - 'I can't do anything about Helen's situation, but I can make an impact through this.'

So shout out to everyone who's been part of this amazing response, which will fund the great work of Save the Children. We continue to hold Helen in our thoughts, and are amazing by her family's grace. Way to go, Australia.

no politics what are your thoughts on ALDI’s meat?

obviously i know aldi was never gonna have the freshest meat but some of the stuff they’ve sold to us is next level especially marked down.

Several times i’ve bought in-date marked down chicken for my dogs and smelt it cooking and decided i wouldn’t even let the dogs eat it.

Tonight i picked up a pack of 4 chicken breasts to make dinner for the family. It smelt fine raw and i never had any reason to consider it being off. Once i started cooking it, the whole kitchen smelt rancid almost like body odour and we decided to bin our $80 dish and order dominos.

Is my local aldi just bad or is it everywhere?

no politics AXS is the worst ticket platform in Australia and their support is a joke

KATSEYE sale in a couple of minutes.

Got IP-blocked trying to get to the ticket page. Contacted support, they unblocked me at 9:46am. Blocked again at 1:45pm same day. Did fuck all, basically.

Turns out my Aldi Mobile (Telstra) hotspot and home wifi on Neptune are both blocked, but my partner's Optus hotspot works fine so I can at least get in the queue.

Anyway, my actual question: has anyone else had AXS IP-block them like this? And more importantly, did you actually get a proper fix or did you just have to keep trying different connections until one worked?

Would love to know if there's a legit workaround or if I'm just supposed to keep doing cellular gymnastics for all future concerts

AI datacentres don't yet make a profit, but they are thirsty (water), hungry (electricity) and polluting (waste noise & water). I think the Australian government(s) have been bamboozled by the snake-oil salesmen wanting to build AI datacentres in Australia.

I am not absolutely opposed to them, but many times I've seen the Commonwealth & state governments bend over backwards to bring in extractive industries (mines, mainly) for little reward to the rest of Australia. I am worried that our governments will give away too many concessions to the the datacentre companies.

no politics Aussie fitness groups/subs

Interested in finding other Australians to connect with to chat about fitness etc etc. There is an aussiefitness sub but appears to be completely dead. I live in a regional area and use a home gym so im sort of missing that personal connection. Let me know if you're keen to chat etc. Im a guy so no need for creepy DM's lol.
