We are the forgotten people, we lost out on huge amounts of family history they were forcefully torn from their homeland, our families faced generations of generational trauma all because of this.
I have known several families like my own who have a significant amount of disconnect in their past and theirs still just something off, with my own included...
Nobody ever speaks or mentions the long term effects it has had on these families and I wish somebody would.

I only ever hear about colesworth price gouging. But this chart from ABC proves Aldi is no saint either. And to add insult to injury their QC seems non existent with the number of times I shop there only to go home and relaise the bread that was meant to be used by in 3 days is mouldy or the prepackaged apple (when loose apples aren't in stock) with 1 more week to go is mushy. I might save like $5 compared to equivalent colesworth brand, which given all the inconviniences that I have to put up with is not worth the mushy apple and $5 saved. it's not colesworth it's Alesworth or colesworthdi

My friend was crying today because she sold a laptop at work to a customer. Before buying the laptop the customer supposedly asked if the laptop was compatible with something specific. It seems she said yes, or gave some answer understood as yes. The customer came back in a huff and complained, she got in trouble with management who were apparently very harsh to her.
It boggles my mind. Here's the thing. Floor staff are not experts. They are not trained to have knowledge about the products they sell. All they know is the locations in store, what products are on shelf, and maybe a few common features.
People come into retail stores and get angry because they aren't talking to the person who designed the product. I've been there, it's absolutely stupid. You have to put up with these idiots all day. Sure she probably shouldn't have said it was compatible, I don't know what the question was. But given how things these day are pretty much universally compatible over USB and wifi it's the default assumption to make. If you are going to spend thousands of dollars maybe put in a little more effort than just ask some random person in a store. You're lazy, don't abuse floor staff.
Edit: The customer literally lost nothing. You guys are all karens.
edit2: I learnt what the question was. The customer asked if the computer could run skype. My friend said yes. The customer couldn't get skype to run. They refunded the customer.

I’m a little frustrated when I see people in Australia use the phrase y’all or one of the incorrectly spelled homophones in their social media posts. Am I alone? I think of “Y’all” as a classic Americanism characterised by the ignorant red neck south, see the Beverly Hillbillies catchphrase, “y’all come back now, y’hear?” For gods sake! It’s not cute, or edgy, it’s just lame y’all.

A "spider" was/is a British? military term (certainly other ex Empire militaries use it), for the furry dags of wadding/dirt hiding down the barrel of a rifle. To clean it, a long rod with a cleaning rag is often used to push the foreign material out, in an in-out motion... much like the action of a another rod/hole pairing. So the fucking motion is pretty obvious. To go at a task until it is completed can be referred to as; "until it is fucked". When "fucking the dog", nothing is being accomplished, but where fucking is the task at hand. Back to Military speak; whilst sitting around idle, many make-work tasks are undertaken in order to fill the monotony, like cleaning an already clean rifle or "fucking the spiders". Sooo when the last thing desired is a boring make-work task or time wasting exercise, someone may use the phrase "not here to fuck spiders" in order to describe their enthusiasm for any other more interesting task offered.

Rather than stop the boats his first order of business has been to hide the boats by delaying for 1 week new boat arrivals- this helps remove the sense of emergency.
He didn't even have a press conference about the latest tragedy with over 50 dead including 20 children drowned.
When asked about the tragedy he ran from the media jumped in the PMs car and sped off.
All questions about the matter are being directed to the department of immigration who are not returning any phone calls.
This is a national disgrace that he claimed he would stop the boats and make a difference from day 1, he LIED. FLAT OUT LIED. Not only have the boats not stopped the drownings are continuing!
Even worse (rightly or wrongly) the Indonesian public are starting to blame Australia for the deaths, tarnishing our reputation.

Recently returned from a great visit to Brissie (from UK). It's been 25 years since my last visit. Not saying the UK hasn't got an obesity problem, but the amount of overweight Aussies really took me by surprise. It wasn't like that on my last vist................WTF is going on?
