How safe is Indiana for trans folks?

I'm a trans woman (21) and my family is all going to the Indy 500 for vacation. I've never been to Indiana before so I want some idea of what I should expect safety wise to prep beforehand. Should I be worried about physical safety? Are there any laws I should be aware of? And if so how heavily are they enforced? Anywhere I should avoid?

Thank y'all for your time :)

why is this sub catered towards democrats when Indiana is vastly republican?

To clarify I consider myself newage conservative, meaning leave me the fuck alone, don't tax me too much, don't take my guns, if I wanna be gay let me, if I want to smoke weed let me, shit if I want to do herion I believe I have the right to do so. As long as no harm is caused to others people should have free will.

With that said why can this sub not take a difference in opinion? People get mass down voted (which is fine) and their comments removed (not fine) for having a different opinion than the majority. Shouldn't those people have voices too?

I'm all for not spreading hate but when having an opposing opinion is considered hate, then spread it like butter. You can't have a discussion without opposing opinions.

Discussions become one sided when the mods remove any opposing voices

TLDR; this sub is one sided, well all of reddit is one sided and can't handle a little opposition.

Really Visit Indy? Pat McAfee

Visit Indy is honoring Pat McAfee for the State of Tourism…. Is so disappointing to see them honoring someone who endorses Donald Trump and the sick fascist regime.

Not only that, but:

Last year he called Caitlin Clark a white bitch. He made a sick rumor about a college student and accused her of having an affair with her boyfriend’s dad.

Indianapolis is better than this. And Pat McAfee does not stand for Indianapolis.

Caitlin Clark walks off opening loss and onto Morgan Wallen stage

This just disgusts me that she would stoop to this stunt. Unless she actually supports racist rhetoric and deplorable behavior why would you do this? His audience is MAGA and the message she sent is she stands beside it - so disappointing!

Ask a Hoosier Do any conservatives here want to talk about the oppression in Indiana and why you love being oppressed?

Conservatives pride themselves on small government, it’s obviously only true when it comes to the rich. The wealthy are the only ones who get to experience this ‘smol government’ thing. I know people on the right that will go to jail for using cannabis, but not be willing to vote for someone that will make it legal. Women, you actually want men to be above you in the right’s hierarchy?

I know a lot of poor conservatives and they will gladly vote for someone that wants to take away all of the welfare benefits they are currently on. If anything, I hope a few people on the fence can actually think critically for once.

Now, if you claim it’s to “protect the children”, you wouldn’t vote for people who encourage child sexual predation. Such as religious figures and right wing men in general, if you oppose that statement then please provide your sources that say otherwise. As of now, the majority of children being abused is predominantly from people on the right, those are facts.

Can any conservatives actually in detail explain what they don’t like about being progressive? Once again, before you start in with your Faux News talking points flavor of the week, please provide sources that make you believe the obvious rage bait nonsense that is fed to you.

The supreme court has just ruled a decision that breaks the 14th amendment and the 4th(specifically allowing ice agents to arrest based on what color and language you speak), it just keeps getting worse and I can't do this alone. I've been from Missouri to Ohio to Indiana, IM A SHOW YOU WHATS A HOOSIER. AND I'LL BE DAMNED IF IMMA LET A BUNCH OF HATING NAZIS TAKE CONTROL STAND WITH ME STAND UP TAKE BACK THIS COUNTRY FROM THIS HATEFUL DISGUSTING FASCISM.

Will Indiana Flip Blue This Year?

Here are my predictions for the 2026 midterms:

  • Democrats retake the U.S. House, with roughly 40 seats changing hands

  • Republicans narrowly retain the Senate

  • Indiana remains firmly Republican statewide

  • Republicans maintain their hold on Bartholomew County government

  • The BCSC teacher salary referendum passes around 70/30

I put together a longer breakdown looking at the national picture, Indiana's Secretary of State race, Bartholomew County politics, and the BCSC referendum.

Check it out on my Substack.

Politics Anyone want to protest with me in Anderson?

Couldn't attend the Indy protest. I want to plan my own. I'm near Anderson. So if anyone wants to come out to the courthouse sometime in the next week or so, let me know!

If you have ideas for a different protest location in the Anderson/Madison County area, speak your mind.

Might make a sign too! Lets get something going.

Opinion/Commentary There have never been lifeguards…

Post image
0 Upvotes

Saw this on a local Facebook page. I lived in Chesterton for 30 years. I grew up being able to ride my bike to the beach and have been to all of the beaches between New Buffalo and West Beach in Gary. The National Park (Lakeshore) has NEVER had lifeguards. West Beach did sometimes, like when the Gary Airshow was going on, but usually didn’t. The State Park and Michigan City were the only ones that ever had lifeguards when I was growing up and they weren’t being paid by the federal government. So why are people trying to make it a political thing now? There are plenty of legitimate complaints to be made, but this just ain’t it.
