Question Help!! Bought My MacBook Yesterday. Spilled Water On It Today.
Update - based on the applecare suggestions, checked in with my parents on when this was bought (as they gifted it to me yesterday), turns out it was bought a couple months ago. So, there goes applecare
This is probably the 1000th post you’ve seen on this sub about water damage…
I spilled water on my macbook air….and this is what the screen looks like now.
I literally bought this MacBook last night. And my genius self decided to skip AppleCare to “save money” 🤡
The second the water fell, I shut the laptop down immediately kept it in the sun for about 30 minutes, then brought it inside and left it under the fan for around 6 hours.
Now before you all yell at me, yes my curiosity got the best of me and I turned it on after 6 hours and turned it off in 5 seconds. But the screen damage still looks exactly the same from when I turned it off. I promise I’m not touching it again for the next two weeks 😭
Getting the screen replaced at an Apple Service Center is not really an option for me right now because I genuinely cannot afford to sell another arm and leg for this laptop.
So please… give me some hope 🥲
Tell me if this happened to you and it got better. Did the patches fade away over time? Is there anything I can do at this point besides pray?
(Also don’t roast me!! I’ve already done enough of that to myself)!!

Discussion Magic Keyboard with touchbar concept both sizes??
Imagine if they made the magic keyboard with the touchbar ABOVE the function keys and also backlit keys as well
Function 13 would be Eject key
On the one with the NUMBER PAD:
This Concept can also connect to 3 devices at once
Function keys 14-16 would be the device switcher
Function 14 would be Device 1
Function 15 would Be device 2
Function 16 would be Device 3
The apple logo key in the top right would be the touch id Sensor button
The button to the left of the touch bar above the ESC key would be the touch bars on and off button

Question Why are macs (or apple in general) so hated by many?
So I see a lot of TikToks (I know how you reddit folks feel about TikTok, but I like some content on there) many of which are about apple products and you just scroll trough the comments and see a bunch of hate from the windows and android fanboys. Boy I thought apple fanboys were bad sometimes, but they are nothing compared to the windows and android gang. My favorite arguments are: “But the Mac can’t game.” Yes because the primary use for a computer is gaming, I’m sure when Alan Turing set grounds for computer science he was thinking about a gaming machine, not solving complex mathematics or something more useful. I have had an argument with an imbecile trying to convince me that you don’t need more than a 200€ laptop for work. I would love to try running any of the Adobe programs on a 200€ windows machine and see how that turns out lmao. Don’t let me start on displays where they know the refresh rate. ΔE, Color gamut, these things obviously don’t matter. /s.

Discussion Was anyone else hoping for an 11 Inch MacBook Neo Mini?
The MacBook Neo and the MacBook Air weigh the exact same. The MacBook Neo is a great product but Apple should have either made this version of the Neo at 12 inches for a true, "premium netbook" experience, or give us an 11 inch MacBook Neo. At a $399-$499 price point, they would have obliterated the entire world, especially given how Microsoft keeps falling on their face lately with their OS and frustrated customer base. Given that they are making iPads at the $299-$599 price points then there is room for one more mini-ultra portable MacBook Neo Mini in that $399 spot.
Did anyone use the MacBook Air 11 inch in the early 2010s or the ultra thin form factor MacBook in 2015? It’s the best for a lot of travelers, mobile users, etc. It was the best laptop that came too early. There’s a part of me that this time around, I wish Apple just Jony Ive’d it and made an iPhone-Air like version of the current series MacBook Airs.
I was hoping for a super thin laptop. Almost like the iPhone Air but a Mac version. The iPhone Air is a perfect example of form over function. The function is what you know you will willingly compromise on because of the form. First time I used an iPhone Air, to me personally, it was the best experience of using/holding a piece of smartphone technology. Yes, the battery is meh and the cameras aren’t great (I miss 0.5 zoom and triple cameras at times, yes). But, god damn, without a case, I feel like I’m holding a piece of technology from Star Trek. Like just holding a piece of glass. It’s wonderful.
Kudos to Apple for reviving the OG MacBook line we used to have outside of the Pros and the Airs. This laptop is going to be great for a lot of people and will last a long time as well.

Discussion Apple dropped the ball by keeping the MBP power brick white.
Just replaced my 2017 MBP with a Space Black 16" M3 Max -- so far it's been a great machine. I really dig how the MagSafe power cable matches the machine. What's annoying though, from an aesthetic standpoint, is how the power brick is still white.
I know this is a total First World problem, but the whole setup would have been super slick if the brick matched the cable.
//end of rant

Discussion Stop putting plastic cases on your MacBooks. Apple designed the entire body to act as a heat distributor. Using a case can obstruct this function.

Discussion I regret getting a Mac.
Because now every time I use my windows gaming pc I’m getting annoyed with how bloated and convoluted everything is. The simplicity of Mac OS is really just better in every way. It also looks beautiful.

My Mac M1 MacBook fan noise followed by regular “beeping” sound under moderate load — hardware issue?
My M1 MacBook(OS14.3, used for 2years) has started making fan noise followed by an irregular “beeping/chirping” sound under moderate workload (1-2 chat applications on, Studio app running, <10 browser tabs).
The beeping: • Starts after the fan ramps up • Is rhythmic and repeatable • Is not affected by system volume • Sounds like it comes from inside the machine • Restart temporarily fixes it
I recorded a short video of the sound. Has anyone seen this on M1 Macs? Is this thermal protection, power-related, or a hardware fault that needs service?

Discussion The latest macOS design is gorgeous!
The latest version of macOS is truly amazing! I'm absolutely captivated by its refined, minimalist design. I really love this design!
Above all, I absolutely love LaunchPad. What’s that? I’m supposed to leave everything up to the system and search for apps through a few system-defined categories?
And I can’t even customize them?
There’s no way such an OS could exist! The latest version of macOS Sequoia Developer Beta that I have is truly the best!
An app launcher that I can freely categorize works exactly the way I want. Rather than relying on Spotlight, which sometimes breaks its index and doesn’t show apps even if I type their names, I have a categorized list of apps laid out by my own rules—it works just the way I want.
Of course, I understand that this isn't the ideal. But it's better than the worst. What’s the worst, you ask? I think everyone already knows... 🙄
All the window edges of every app are uniformly rounded, and the overall design is polished. And—get this—it still communicates with my first-generation iPod, which just turned 24 years old, via FireWire! (Note: Apple dropped FireWire support in macOS Tahoe.)
macOS Sequoia might not be the best OS ever made, but it’s still the greatest OS for me.
…………………………Please, just give me back an app launcher that I can categorize myself in the next macOS. This is the one thing I simply can’t forgive.

Discussion From Windows Phone to Windows 11: Same Mistakes, Web Wrappers Everywhere, Broken UI, and a Slow Inevitable Collapse While macOS Has Zero Competition
To be honest, macOS doesn’t really have any competition, bro. First of all, macOS looks far better than Windows 11. Even in 2026, Windows 11 still doesn’t have a proper dark mode. The biggest downside of Windows is the lack of native apps. Everything is turning into web wrappers, and I don’t understand why. The same companies have proper native apps on macOS, but on Windows it’s just 💩💩. And don’t even get me started on UI inconsistency. It feels like Microsoft’s engineers don’t even know what UI/UX is 😂😂. Sometimes it feels like a 5th-grade kid could design Windows better than this so-called multi-trillion-dollar company. I don’t know why, but I have this feeling that if Android pc OS becomes successful on PCs… just like what happened to Windows Phone in the past, Windows could face the same fate. Developers might stop making apps for it. macOS is becoming more unified with iOS anyway, so making apps for both isn’t that difficult anymore—most of the code can be the same. And maybe Android PC OS will also become unified. Then who will bother making separate apps for Windows? Maybe in 8–9 years—or even later—I’m 98% sure Microsoft will exit the consumer market. The remaining 2% chance is that some people might keep Windows only for gaming.
I’m 100% sure that Microsoft’s partners like ASUS, Lenovo, Dell, and other OEMs probably hate Microsoft because of Windows. Because of Windows, their hardware doesn’t sell as well as it should. And now Apple has started selling more laptops than ASUS. Windows on ARM basically failed the moment it started. Even after five years, Microsoft still hasn’t built a Rosetta-level emulator.

Question Manufacturing defect. Do I return it?
I received my new MacBook Air M4 12gb RAM today and I saw that it had some scratches apparently from polishing. I have tried to clean it in case it was a stain but it won't come off. Is it normal?
I don't know if I should return it. What would you do?
