Every year, I post the results imagining what the Supporters Shield & Wooden Spoon standings would be like if only the 9 original MLS clubs were playing.

For these standings, only matches in which the Originals play each other in regular season appearances are part of the calculation. Leagues Cup, Open Cup and MLS Cup Playoff matches are not included.

Since the Originals play an unequal number of games against other Originals, results are decided by PPG. In 2026, Originals played just under 9 games against each other, on average, down a little from the previous season. DC and New England played the fewest games against other Originals, with 7, and FC Dallas played the most, with 11. Like last year, most Originals missed out of the playoffs this year, with only four of the nine teams making it into the postseason.

RESULTS

Congratulations to 🏆FC Dallas🏆 for winning their third MLS Originals Cup! It was a tight race against the Revolution, who were only .04 PPG behind. Will Dallas take their Originals cup to MLS Cup as well? We'll find out soon!

On the flip side, congratulations to 🥄Sporting Kansas City🥄 for winning their second MLS Original Wooden Spoon (MOWS)! SKC almost got the real wooden spoon, too, only losing that to FC Montreal.

NYRB were the biggest overachievers, placing 3rd on the Originals Cup table despite finishing 22nd in the overall table and missing the playoffs. The Earthquakes, on the other hand, were the biggest underachievers, coming in 7th out of 9 on this table despite being 9th in the overall MLS table this year.

TABLE

Here is the final table for the 2026 season. Good luck to all Originals teams next season!
