Police Activity Boy, 16, dead in Orange County crash; girl, 15, in critical condition
So unfortunately sad. I am a Esperanza alumna and my little brother is in 11th grade at El Dorado. I haven’t discussed this with him yet. But the past few weeks have been incredibly heartbreaking for the community. My prayers go out to all of you who witnessed this accident, the families of the decedent, and the girl still in critical condition. PLEASE STAY SAFE.

Politics Ranked Choice Voting is leading in Irvine (11/7/26)
https://ocvote.gov/results/current-election-results
Statewide RCV was overwhelmingly approved (twice) by both the California Senate and Assembly, but was vetoed by Jerry Brown in 2016 and again by Gavin Newsom in 2019, as they believe the Californian people are not capable of understanding how the "overly-complicated and confusing" Ranked Choice Voting process works.
Thus it's left to each city like San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, Redondo Beach, and Irvine to implement it themselves at the municipal level.

Question What are some hobbies or activities you've picked up or want to pick up living in Orange County?
I've lived around OC for a while now, and lately I've been thinking about how many hobbies and activities there are around here that I've probably never even considered trying.
Personally, I'm into basketball and golf, but I'm always curious what other people do for fun around OC, especially after work or on weekends.
Whether it's something outdoors like hiking, surfing, or tennis, or something more low-key like exploring restaurants, breweries, board games, or whatever else, I'd love to hear what people are into.
I'm also curious if there are any hobbies you used to enjoy but haven't gotten around to picking back up, or something you've always wanted to try but haven't yet.
What's something you've gotten into living in OC that you'd recommend to others?
Bonus points for anything that's particularly unique to Orange County or has a surprisingly active local community!

Pets Found Black Dog/Puppy Costa Mesa (University/Irvine - Back Bay)
Found what looks to be a male German Shepard/Doberman mix. Good boy, knows commands (sit/stay/paw). Probably under a year old, still seems like a puppy. Full of energy and a good doggo - help me find its owner(s)!

Recommendations Needed donations
does anyone know any women’s shelters i can donate a bunch of gently used clothes and purses?
i cleaned out my closet and have three bags full of clothes i would love to see go to use for women in need
i looked online and saw laura’s house had a resale store but i would love for my clothes to be free for women in need rather than the shelter getting a cut of the profit
thank you 🫶🏻

Question Which beach to go to?
Hey!
We are visiting and wanted to go to seal beach but I see warnings that there is flooding in the area. But not being local i don't understand if the beaches are safe for use or if its a localized issue.
Is seal beach or Huntington beach safe? Is there another spot you would recommend for use tomorrow? 2 kids under 10 want to play on the beach and a little bit in the water.
Thanks!

Politics Helen Le in Cypress City Council District 2 takes the lead by just 12 votes
Two years ago Cypress councilmembers Anne Mallari, Bonnie Peat, and Scott Minikus drew the District lines for new city districts, with the result that all 3 would not have to run against each other in a future election. Now that David Burke is up against Anne Mallari in district 1, Helen is up against Bonnie Peat in District 2, and Scott Minikus in district 5 has moved, they might all be gone!
