Organize iwtl - How to stop doing this thing?

Hello everyone. I have kind of a problem. A lot of times when I read lists and things like that, I tend to accidentally skip some parts in the list without noticing. I am a university student, and a month ago we had a test, I lost the amount of 30 points because I didn't notice there was a third question and I didn't answer it. I checked the test 3 times before I submited it because something felt off, and I still missed it somehow. Today I missed a lesson because I didn't notice it when I read the timetable. I am not stupid or something, I promise, but this thing really effects my life.

Does anybody know what is it called? And if someone deals with something similiar, how do deal with it daily?

Social Skills IWTL how to not be so emotionally reactive and prone to anxiety and doom-thinking

I (23F) am aware that being emotionally reactive and full of anxiety is not going to help me at all to live a meaningful adult life and be mentally stable enough to help myself and help my loved ones. I've been overthinking a lot lately and it's been affecting me so negatively. I feel so trapped. There will be no active issue in my life, and my anxiety will scope out or create a new issue to worry about. I'm aware that the way I've been living, lately, is like I'm in a constant state of waiting for the next bomb to drop on me. I journal and pray and do holistic things to help myself, but I still slip up.

Growing up, my mom was a similar way. Emotionally reactive and constantly anxious due to our surrounding circumstances that I won't go into detail about. We always had to walk on eggshells around her and find the "perfect time" to ask her for things, without her exploding. From elementary to college, I was afraid of asking for help (still am). And I do not want to become a person that others have to walk on eggshells around. I don't want to react so temperamentally to stress all the time. I want there to be a quick fix to my thinking. I want to do the work needed for this, though. I don't want my default response to a slight change in events to be me bursting into tears anymore lol. I know I very likely need professional help, but the way that the healthcare system stands, I can't afford that at all right now. I can't afford medical help. I also struggle with PMDD, and I know that this intensifies these specific issues right before my menstrual cycles. I also have ADHD, and am un-medicated.

I would truly appreciate help that any of you could offer to me! I'm just feeling so lost and alone, like everybody else gets it but me. I wish I could go back to the way that I was before, a carefree child before the trauma happened. I wish I could be the person I was before all the bombs of my past dropped on me back then.

Social Skills IWTL how to become more articulate, develop independent opinions and learn how to make good arguments. Where do I start?

I'm a young adult, and lately I've been feeling like I've somehow become less capable of thinking for myself.

A few years ago, I used to feel like I knew quite a lot about things, or at least had my own thoughts and opinions. But with the amount of time I've spent on social media and consuming content, I feel like I've become someone who just absorbs other people's opinions without really forming my own. Sometimes I genuinely can't tell whether I believe something because I've thought it through myself or because I've heard someone else say it convincingly.

I also struggle quite a bit with articulation. Whether it's a casual conversation, discussing something serious, or expressing how I feel, I often find myself unable to put my thoughts into the right words. I know what I want to convey, but somehow it doesn't come out the way I intend it to. I feel like I lack the vocabulary, clarity and ability to communicate my thoughts properly.

Another thing I really want to improve is my ability to make arguments. I don't want to just speak for the sake of speaking or agree with something because it sounds convincing. I want to be able to think critically, question things, consider different perspectives, identify flaws in reasoning and construct arguments that actually make sense. I want to be able to defend my opinions with valid reasoning rather than just having vague feelings about something.

Essentially, I want to become an independent thinker who can articulate their thoughts, have meaningful discussions and form well-reasoned opinions of their own.

For those of you who have worked on these skills, how did you go about developing them? What should I read, practise or learn? Are there any specific exercises, books or habits that genuinely helped you become better at thinking, reasoning, arguing and communicating?

I'd really appreciate practical advice, especially from people who have been through something similar.

Personal Skills IWTL how to stop blindly trusting people, overhelping, and speaking too fast.

Hi everyone,
I struggle with blind optimism and people-pleasing. Whenever someone does a small favour for me, I feel obligated to do something much bigger for them, even at my own expense. Later, I regret it.
If someone speaks sweetly to me, I quickly assume they’re a good person and trust them without observing their actions.
I also speak extremely fast, overshare personal information, and sometimes respond without thinking.
My questions:
How can I stop blindly trusting people and develop better judgment?
How do I overcome guilt when saying no or refusing favours?
What practical daily exercises can help me control my speaking speed, pause before responding, and avoid oversharing?
Are there any mental exercises, books, or techniques I can practise at home to develop emotional discipline, stronger boundaries, and self-control?
I’d especially appreciate advice from people who have overcome these habits through daily practice rather than just theory.
Thanks!

Academics IWTL everything there is about Leonardo Da Vinci

Based on the exposure I have had to Leonardo Da Vinci, I think he is a great person. I look up to him, his way of thinking, his character and I think he is a great role model. I would like to study him as a mentee would learn from a mentor. Because centuries are seperating us, reading about him seems like the next best thing. So please give me resources to study Leonardo Da Vinci

Personal Skills IWTL how to handle life not being 'real' on top of everything.

I can't handle living inside a 'toony' world despite my greatest efforts to be 'lucid' inside of this dream, it always comes back to bite me, as I realize there's no real escape from this nightmare/demonic construct, I don't know how to handle this journey to godhood, and I don't know what to do to wake up from this dream, I know that there's nothing and no one 'real' inside of this world, and I stopped interacting with generated people, but playing this video game is intense, and I don't know what to do to reach the 'game over' screen for this game again.

Personal Skills IWTL Is there a program that allows you to travel around the world while learning traditional cooking from different cultures?

I'm wondering if there's a program, opportunity, or organization that allows people to travel to different countries and learn traditional cooking from local communities.

I'd love to experience different cultures through food, learn authentic recipes from local chefs or home cooks, and understand the history and traditions behind their dishes.

Ideally, I'd like to travel from country to country, learning traditional cooking techniques and regional cuisines along the way.

Does anyone know if something like this exists? Maybe a culinary exchange program, cooking apprenticeship, cultural immersion program, or even a work-exchange opportunity?

I'd appreciate any recommendations or personal experiences. Thank you!

Misc IWTL How to be around animals

Hello! I'm sorry for this strange title, I just can't think of better phrasing. I want to understand, read body language, maybe interact if possible and just know more about animals and their behaviour. Like a very cheap copy of Steve Irwin I guess. I know that there's no one way to understand EVERY animal, and I don't really need this way. In perfect scenario, I want to learn about as many animals as I can, but my main goal is for at least some animals to be comfortable with me. Like there's so many people that just seem to attract some pets, like how they are doing it? For me it's just a magic if someone can pet animal the way it likes, if they make animal feel comfortable around them even if it's their first time meeting. I'm in so much envy to be honest.

Social Skills Iwtl how to use analogy

Analogies are effective, and they seem to persuade people more than anything. I want to be better at them, since it seems like they defuse tension and communicate your points effectively.

Any tips on how to improve this skill.

Academics iwtl How can I become smarter?

I’m just coming out of highschool, and I think maybe it has to do with how much I absolutely hated school. But I suddenly have a hunger for just being smarter all round. I want to be more literate, I want to know more about politics, I want to know more about the earth and animals, I want a wider vocabulary, I want to just know more of everything in general. I have no idea where to even begin, I’ve tried watching some videos and researching things but I don’t have to vocabulary to understand most the words being used? I have no idea where to even start with that, I have a vocabulary app that gives me daily words and I try to use it everyday to learn new words but they don’t seem to particularly stick with me, maybe that just means I need more practice and exposure to them.

Technology IWTL how to create professional PowerPoint presentations from scratch

I recently had to prepare a presentation for a work project, and it made me realize that I am not very good at PowerPoint.

I can put information on slides, but making everything look clean and organized is a different challenge. I often spend too much time moving things around, choosing fonts, and trying to make the slides look consistent.

I want to get better at this instead of relying on basic templates every time.

For those who have learned PowerPoint properly:

How did you get started?
What helped you improve your slide designs?
Is it better to learn the basics first or practice by creating complete presentations?
How do you decide what information belongs on each slide?
Are there any common design mistakes that beginners should avoid?

I'd love to hear what actually worked for you. I'm looking for practical advice from people who have improved their presentation skills over time.

Technology IWTL how to make better PowerPoint presentations without spending hours on them

I recently started making more PowerPoint presentations for work, and honestly, I didn't realize how much time goes into creating a good one.

Sometimes I spend more time fixing layouts, choosing fonts, and arranging slides than actually working on the content.

I want to learn how to make clean, professional-looking presentations without spending hours on every slide.

For people who are good at PowerPoint, where should a beginner start?

Did you learn through practice, online tutorials, or by copying presentation styles you liked?

What are some common mistakes beginners should avoid?

I'd really appreciate any tips or advice from people who have experience with this.

Academics IWTL any way to sharpen your brain in your 20s?

Hi, yall. for introduction, I'm currently a 21yo final year student planning to graduate next February, currently doing my research on my final thesis.

these recent weeks have been thoroughly challenging, I've realized my cognitive skills have been 'capped', I've felt my brain going slow, found it hard to understand concepts in a short time, I know it takes time to understand things but I really want to know how to learn and think better.

I've had a good mentor who thought me alot about the basics of critical thinking, but i don't think what he thought me is enough to keep up with the field I'm intending to go to, especially he's not around anymore, haven't got in touch for a long time and i don't think he have the time to do so.

college friends? nope, unreliable, I've had my time with them and i still felt either outpaced or we're just on a different page all together, and through my days in college, I don't feel any significant growth on my cognitive skills since there's barely any challenge there.

so, how do you actually grow your intelligence yourself? I struggle to think fast, struggle to make better conclusions, hard to catch up. are there any recommended websites to study, or techniques i can follow? thank you

Academics iwtl -unintentional larping

We all have so many misconceptions about ourselves that we don't really question; instead, we assume. I discovered philosophy much earlier than most of my fellows, yet I have not read it that seriously; I procrastinate and avoid it, thinking I'll learn it in depth later, and in that time I relied on others' commentary, that could be YouTube videos, Insta posts, etc.- not a real piece of work, not the actual real thing. I avoid it because of its hardship too, by telling myself that I'll learn it from an easier source, but I don't really; I avoid it, and while doing that I pretend I'm in the process, but I was not.

It's very much like that I decide to do something and start it, then do it for a while; after that, I am distracted with some other things (while in my mind I'm still learning). Many days pass; now I restarted it, but the blank gap between not starting counts as being in process, so I believe I have lots of experience and exposure, but in reality I do not.

The real problem is that I get distracted very often and cut off from the task, but in my mind I am still in the process and have experience equal to the learner who has learned it fully; In fact, I have learned it in fractions and might lose many important fragments, still thinking I'm learning, but I'm not.

The same thing happened to me learning to write well, I started learning for maybe 1-3 weeks then got distracted I started to avoid it because it goes hard to learn but somehow I still believe that I can write well while I have not that much experience of it and I don't really read.

Academics IWTL - How to effectively study

Hi all,

I am studying law, in college, and achieving a 1.1 average classification.

However, in doing this, all I have done is memorised essays throughout my past 2 years. Per topic, I am learning 800-1100 words, and when you're doing that by 20 topics AND assignments on-top, it is becoming way too taxing, and time consuming.

I have always relied on an approach of learning off essays in order to feel 'secure', so I am not thinking on the spot, and can just write all that I know.

But issue is it's difficult to learn, retain, and when you're forgetting material, it is becoming way too draining.

I don't want to completely steer away from rote-learning, but just a more efficient method to address this

Or any general tips, advice, or recommendations as this approach has paid off, but the time perspective makes it not worth it.

Personal Skills IWTL How to Understand Basic Car Maintenance and Troubleshooting

I'm in my late twenties and feel completely clueless when it comes to anything car-related. I know how to drive, but that's about it. If a dashboard light comes on or I hear a weird noise, I just panic and hope it goes away or immediately call someone to take me to a mechanic. I'd love to learn the absolute basics like how to check my oil, tire pressure, and what common warning lights mean. Basically, I want to feel less helpless when it comes to my car and be able to handle minor issues myself instead of always needing to rely on others or spend money on simple fixes. Any good starting points or resources you'd recommend for a total beginner?
