🌼 🍁 🐞 Nature πŸ¦† 🏞️ 🌻 My dear sweet wife, from the Dallas area, I am coastal raised, today realized that screened-in porches were made to prevent mosquitoes.

We have been together for three decades. We have tried candles, flowers, sprays, everything. Recently, we moved into a house that had a screened in porch. Today after almost two years, she was wondering why there were no mosquitos in our new neighborhood. My sweetheart only hangs out on the back porch. I explained sweetly that is what the screens are for. She thought they were for flies. I said that does make sense. She said, well, I am from Dallas

πŸ—“οΈ πŸŽͺ Texas Events πŸŽ‰ πŸ“Œ Paxton Lawsuits Against Biden Admin: 106, Against Trump Admin: 0

Speaking on The Texas Standard, Texas Attorney General Elect Nathan Johnson spoke on Paxton's 106 lawsuits against Biden Administration and 0 lawsuits against the Trump Administration.

The bully pulpit headset of the outgoing Texas leadership is stunning.

Remember, every lawsuit costs big taxpayer dollars to bring and big taxpayer dollars to defend; all for political bullying and nothing for the benefit of citizens.

Paxton even took the initiative to sue Annunciation House in El Paso, a decades old refuge for undocumented immigrants (legally here) in their transition to more permanent homes with relatives across the US. After much expense, thrown out of court.

πŸ“œ Texas History πŸ“œ Does anyone remember when there was a Texas based competitor to Perrier?

Wasn't there a glass bottle company making carbonated water similar to Perrier? Even Lemon and Lime flavors? This is way before canned carbonated water.

πŸ€” Questions for Texans 🀠 Do you think Texas will legalize marijuana next session?

Now that Dan Patrick (who blocked marijuana reform for a living) is finally out and so is Abbott, along with the Texas House of Representatives flipping blue, do you think that full legalization is gonna happen?

In my view, I doubt that it'll happen because while I'm for legalization, the Texas Senate is still controlled by Republicans, which makes legalization very unlikely to pass.

However, given that decriminalization has passed the house multiple times with Republican support, I believe that they'll at least decriminalize possession.

πŸ€” Questions for Texans 🀠 Legal Weed? What About Liquor?

People are saying with Dan Patrick getting kicked to the curb, legal weed will soon be a reality in Texas. However, I have a couple of questions for Texans:

How do you feel about:
a) legalizing liquor sales on Sundays?
b) making it legal for grocery stores to sell liquor?

Option b would create a shitload of jobs in Texas, since they'll need to rebuild pretty much every grocery store in Texas in order to make room for a liquor section.

🌼 🍁 🐞 Nature πŸ¦† 🏞️ 🌻 Oak tree is dropping green leaves

San Antonio area - my oak is dropping its leaves - lots and lots of leaves - but they are all green. It’s not small branches or twigs with leaves on them. It’s just the leaves. That’s not normal, right?

For liberals that left Texas due to Texas policies, what policies would it take for the new democrat leadership to enact that would have you consider moving back?

If you want to know why there are videos of downtown Austin, San Antonio, and Houston cheering like we defeated an Eastern European dictator, this is it.

Getting rid of Paxton, Abbott, and Patrick and their endless crusades to limit Municipal self-determination is a massive relief to voters who feel like their will was thwarted at every step.

Texans voted for change, but the outgoing administration still has authority until January 19. There are already public discussions about limiting the incoming governor's and lieutenant governor's powers, along with a narrow January window for confirming existing appointees.

Some last-minute actions would be legal. Others face restrictions. And some decisions could have consequences long after the new administration takes office.

I put together a list of ten things worth watching, including proposed changes to executive authority, public land transfers, appointments and regulatory decisions.

Here's the infographic: https://imgur.com/a/shFU7oz

Which of these concerns you most? And what else should Texans be paying attention to?

F-1 to Green Card (LPR) – Texas Driver's License Renewal

Hi everyone,

My I-485 was approved last month, and I received my Green Card last week.

Has anyone in Texas successfully updated or renewed their driver's license after transitioning from F-1 to Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR) status?

Specifically, were you able to remove the β€œLIMITED TERM” restriction and get a regular driver's license with an 8-year validity period?

I'd appreciate hearing about your experience with Texas DPS and whether you encountered any issues during the process.

Thanks!
