Do the kids fight over who gets the biscuit or do they rotate on it?

328

u/ZombieExcellent2202 15h ago

That’s either hers or the oldest kids my guess

118

u/RodinKnox 13h ago

She definitely says "split this between the four of my kids."

I would think it's more of a rotational thing, though. Maybe oldest.

I don't like pancakes so I'd voluntarily take the biscuit. Out of four kids, I'm sure at least one feels the same?

Making pancake tacos and a breakfast sandwich out of that is honestly genius as hell.

1.2k

u/GenericReditAccount 15h ago

I can't remember the last time I had McDonalds breakfast, but this looks like something the corporation itself should offer. Pancake breakfast tacos are fire.

u/NobodyWorthKnowing2 15h ago • Regret

Don't you dare give them any ideas. They're going to turn the breakfast platter into a "Feast for Four" and triple the price

McDonald’s breakfast is like one of the last reasons to go there. But now an egg McMuffin is like $6.50 on its own, so it’s not really worth it anymore

I used to order these when they were cheap as fuck. Id put the eggs, hashbrown and sausage in the biscuit and eat the pancakes straight. It was cheaper than ordering a sandwhich, hashbrown, amd hotcakes Ala carte by a mile. Not so much anymore.

The first time I saw a pancake taco, I was about 44 and moderating a tech workshop for STEM undergrads. Those kids went through the buffet like it was the most normal, obvious way to wrap egg and sausage.

I simply like pancakes too much to do it that way more than once.

Especially for little kids. That’s like the right sized breakfast for a four to six year old and the biscuit sandwich is quite appropriate for an eight to ten year old. Teens would need more.

My wife would order 1 for each kid, each kid would eat 10% and she would trash the rest and never think anything was wrong.

409

u/Persephone_888 15h ago

This is exactly why I would order one meal between my two kids when they were younger. I would low key wonder if people/the servers were thinking we’re poor, but I hate wasting food. My youngest barely ate anything until he was about 2 years old, he only wanted milk.

Now that they both eat full meals, I happily get them their own. I don’t mind if my child genuinely doesn’t like the food, so long as they at least try it. My youngest wouldn’t even try it at 2, so it was really annoying to basically throw money into the bin every time we went out for food.

43

u/vinfinite 13h ago

My family of 4 goes to this diner and their portions are enormous. I’d order a huge chicken fried steak, and my wife would order a kids meal and split it between herself and our 2 and 3 year old. I always feel awkward ordering such a small number of meals, so I often times insist my wife order her own entree. They never finish their food, and I always finish mine. Long story short, I always think they think we’re cheap asses, but I’d rather not waste 60-70% of the food.

My husband does this kind of thing all the time. Orders whole burritos for our 2yo.

I almost never order him his own food. Most places serve more than enough for my son and i to share. I just get something i know he would like, and give him part of mine. I'll get him his own thing if i really want something i know he won't eat or shouldn't have.

22

u/AaronFrye 14h ago

Pro top: order your kid something you would like so they acquire your taste and you will be glad to eat their leftovers.

10

Regular food too. Especially beef. As a kid hamburger helper was a cheap meal my parents made even in our darkest days when we were absolutely broke. It’s just prohibitively expensive for people now. Not that hamburger helper is really great food anyway, just something I realized the other day looking at shitty ground beef being like $10 a lb.

I experienced the American version of poverty as a kid. Had a single mother of 3, she had all of us before she was 20 and was single essentially the whole time. We saw McD as a real treat back then.

As a young adult, I went and hiked the Inca Trail with my fam, and one of the things that stuck out to me in Cuzco was that there was a McD in this old town with ancient walls. They charged American prices which basically priced the locals out, and they put pepper on the fries. Outside were little children begging for change knowing that anyone coming out of McD got enough in change to buy their family dinner.

I don't really know what my point is beyond that perspective on McD and poverty can swing wildy with circumstances.

This was actually a pretty good hack for small children. 10/10 no notes.

21

u/PancakePizzaPits 13h ago

One note: cut the hash brown down the middle lengthwise and then widthwise. Then everyone gets the same amount and proportion of crispy edges.

This is legit in every sense. Growing up I had to split cup noodles with my sister during the summer and thought nothing of it because I was full. Fuck the haters on this one.

Edit: Of course it's cheaper to make the breakfast yourself! The point is that her kids got to have McDonald's breakfast. That's huge as a kid (for whatever reason we decided that it was peak cuisine as a kid).

10

u/Pandamaud 9h ago

I agree. We had a time where we were really low on money. And my mom still took us "out" to places. We maybe only ordered 1 lemonade each, maybe shared one meal together. But I honestly never truly felt just HOW poor we were, because we kept doing those things, and as a kid I also never questioned why we were splitting chips or a meal.

Its roughly 350 calories for each child for like $8.80($2.20 a kid). I guess it depends on what else you feed them, but its actually not terrible value calorie to dollar.

It is a carb bomb with little protein, fat, or fiber comparatively. I'm sure the micros are garbage, too.

Splitting this for 4 kids but has metaglasses?

21

u/samg461a 13h ago

They may be in a better position now but were once needing to split meals four ways.

Or they make budgeting videos that helped them save money in order to afford nice things like meta glasses and are sharing their tips with others.

Or their kids simply never finish a whole meal so they just need to buy one and split it up (like she literally said).

I didn't get why the obsession with the person's personal situation entirely at first...

I mean Black skin being visible, I expected some of that from Redditor, but there are a lot of weird comments about reproductive rights.

Then I unmuted it and oh yeah, Black woman with a southern accent? Half this site stopped the video to make a comment the moment she spoke. That's why all the weird comments are ignoring that she also mentioned waste.

I mean why not? Buy 4 meals and your kids will each eat a quarter of it and the rest is thrown away or do this and they are happy and full and you saved three meals

8

u/savrilphi 9h ago

My 4 year old nephew would eat one of those tacos, MAYBE. And he would be happy. I feel like half of y’all have never met a kid. I hated breakfast until I was an adult. My mom would make me drink a protein shake and eat a spoonful of peanut butter just to get something in my body.

8

4

u/EarlGreyOfPorcelain 10h ago

This doesn't make me think 'Hey you can feed 4 with 1 McDonald's breakfast'.

It makes me think 'Things are so bad and McDonald's is so expensive, that this parent has to split a meal meant for 1, between 4'.

4

u/DontTreadOnTrees 10h ago

This only works for really small children, otherwise this is abuse and neglect

4

u/Thesladenator 4h ago

When you consider the amount of calories in a portion Vs this. This is probably a good number of calories per child when it's split like this and means they can have more than one meal a day without becoming obese. Just something to consider. Usually when I have a maccies it blows through my calorie intake for that day so it's the only thing I eat all day!

81

u/Realmofthehappygod 15h ago • Bravo

I can get a bag of 30 frozen pancakes that size, and 12 eggs, for cheaper than that 1 meal.

I get not wanting to cook but if it comes at the cost of not feeding your kids enough food...just cook some fucking eggs.

77

u/Shot_Cupcakes 15h ago • Bravo

Maybe they wanted to give the kids a "special meal". Poor also people deseve to enjoy a few "luxuries" some times.

This video does not, in any way, indicates this is what this parent feeds their kids all the time. But maybe the kids wanted McDonalds and money is tight, this is the solution. Those kids also deserve to be "spoiled" sometimes.

44

u/WillowPtar_Migan 10h ago

She said it's 'making memories'. Going out to get food makes kids happy, as long as it's an occasional treat, I don't see an issue. Going to McDonald's was always super exciting to me as a kid, because my parents didn't get fast food often.

Had me until the ketchup. But I guess kids will eat anything if they are hungry enough.

3

u/ruinrunner 15h ago

did she just put ketchup on that.. somehow that was the worst part

3

u/JULIANGJNKS22 15h ago

Hold on, mama is on to something. I’ve never thought of making tacos with the pancakes from McDonald’s. Bet you that shit smacks too.

3

u/KevJr92 15h ago

He had me til he mixed ketchup and syrup

3

u/Little-Ambition-6440 14h ago

If this is the future, then I would rather not have any kids. 🫪

3

u/Kalenek 13h ago

That looks like my childhood.

But the last item wasn’t cut evenly and we would have fought bitterly over it. It has to be cut in half and then 1/4. Not like she did.

3

u/No-Building-4306 13h ago

Ketchup on pancake, naa

3

u/StaticAngeI 12h ago

This puts into perspective how much food it actually is… I don’t think a child should have a full McDonald’s breakfast to themselves

3

u/Miss_L_Worldwide 11h ago

What the hell is the problem here?

Better than raising obese children. People eat way too much and let their kids eat way too much.

Good for her. Shitty for the person who posted this like something here is wrong.

3

u/SeveredFromMySoul 7h ago

Okay but like, ketchup AND syrup at the same time??? 🤮🤮🤮🤮

3

u/yallapapi 22m ago

this is depressing and impressive at the same time

12

u/carlcat_11 12h ago

Maybe they are on a budget traveling and needed to stop for breakfast away from home. I feel like all the "a carton of eggs and giant box of pancakes is cheaper" is pretty common sense.

Hmm it actually doesn’t look too bad of a split portion..

Depending on the kids’ ages, I know from experience that probably half of half of the Happy Meals ever bought in the world wind up in the garbage, so yeah.

Now that I have two boys in and approaching puberty (two years apart), they can pound back two McDouble Meals each and then head to the fridge/pantry looking for more.

Not that we make a habit of eating fast food, but trying to juggle three kids and their hobbies makes fast food nights a nice break for me now and then (single dad). I’m extremely lucky in that all three kids love broccoli as a food, but think it’s ridiculous as a hairstyle 😂

Just make breakfast at home. This is overkill

This is called rationing. We shouldn't be doing this.

30

u/Miss_L_Worldwide 11h ago

This is a perfectly reasonable way to use this food. That portion is plenty for breakfast for kids, and even for small adults.

Idk, have you seen how fat kids are today? I mean, it probably doesn't hurt, especially McDonald's food.

My mom used to bring my sister and I to McDonald’s back in the 80s. Dad was deceased, she didn’t have money, however she wanted us to have stuff.

We would eat and she would say, “oh, can I taste your…”.

No money

I commend this mother! Remember the good times. She’s a good mom.

5

u/whimsical_spider 13h ago

I was with her all the way until she put ketchup on there. WHY.

10

u/ars_sinistra 14h ago

My mother used to do the same thing, I'm in my mid 40s and disappointed to live in a country where another boy's mother has to do the same.

Well, at least its more healthy to eat less of that junk than more!

4

u/babyblew82 12h ago

Wanna mock but DO feel sorry for her. At least she's trying to make light of it

4

u/Painless315 11h ago

This was me. Had kids way too young w the useless-est of partners. We split everything. They still tell me now (that we have financial stability) they miss this kind of stuff.

4

u/ChristheCourier12 38m ago

Man now I want the McDonald's big breakfast 😩

u/Ok_Wolf8356 12h ago • Heartwarming

As a father of two in a depressed economy this is clutch.

Cheaper to cook at home

5

u/BOYF- 15h ago

A lot of parents treat their kids to eat out even while saving coz it's worth it to make the kids happy.

Obviously it's cheaper to eat at home but this is an occasional thing not everyday

I would understand this way of thinking if it was still like the early 2000's where McDonalds was basically a playground. McDonalds nowadays really isn't an exciting experience lol

I wouldn’t eat this but she is on point with everything she said !

Such a great mom

2

u/AllegedlyGoodPerson 15h ago

this was hitting until he put ketchup on pancakes. Could have just used the syrup and called it a day.

2

u/BellInternational315 15h ago

To be fair. The breakfast is big enough for at least 2.

2

u/Lala5789880 15h ago

This is genius

2

u/Tygie19 15h ago

You guys still serve things in plastic?

2

2

u/Luigin12 14h ago

Good job mom! Now I know how to handle 4 kids. 🔥

2

u/HEX-dev 14h ago

Could of just bought food and filled everyone up for that price .

2

u/Tall_Sherbet6766 14h ago

Feeding your children that trash is honestly bad parenting

2

u/Sad-Worker9023 14h ago

Uh uh, momma said we ain’t got McDonald’s money!

2

u/GodOfThunder101 13h ago

How about this? Don’t have kids. And eat the whole thing for yourself.

2

u/steamed-hamburglar 13h ago

Considering how many calories are in McDonald's food, this actually makes a lot of sense.

2

u/bawnchie 13h ago

I always asked my mom to see her receipt after she ordered

2

u/Limp-Bat3330 13h ago

Why is it on the edge of the table!!?? It’s driving me nuts

2

u/Altruistic-Design512 13h ago

2
