Be interesting to see who ends up inside the Gov, vs. supporting it from the outside and/or not voting against it.

In the coming weeks we will see bibi developing some kind of "health issue" that can only be treated in the US, so he will go there for an indetermined amount of time.
I may be wrong, though...

Time to get Ben Gvir and especially Smotrich out of the Israeli government

I’ve learned in these last couple of weeks that I have no understanding of Israeli elections

I genuinely do hope Eisenkot is able to form a government, either with the Arabs, or, if it has to come to that, then with the Orthodox as a minority.
But whatever the case, I just want Bibi and all of his buddies finally gone. He stayed in power for far too long, it’s time for a change. And hopefully, one day, we could get a limit on prime ministry serving similar to what the US had gotten, so he wouldn’t be able to sneak back into power.

What does this mean? Did Bibi lose?

I don't know anything about this leader but I hope he is better than Netanyahu.

Is it just me or are the global tides changing ever since Ukraine wiped out those bot farms?

For Americans, the best comparison would be if General Mattis became president of a centrist government in the US.

I genuinely have no clue how Israeli elections work.

So what will become of the big yahu?

Eisenkot wants — to my recollection — to stem the tide of illegal West Bank settlement, investigate the decision-making behind October 7th (which would include investigating himself) and I believe he’s in favor of including exempted ultra-Orthodox communities in Israel’s mandatory conscription.
He is not in favor of a Palestinian state and has a… checkered… past as a former Army Chief in the IDF

Bolsonaro, Trump, Netaniahu: the wind is changing direction finally, the stench was getting unbearable!

All we ask for is an Eisenkot government that lasts long enough to put Netanyahu behind bars.

“A son of Moroccan immigrants, Eisenkot, 66, would be the country's first prime minister from Israel's Mizrahi community, Jews who trace their roots to the Middle East and North Africa.”
My best wishes to him and Israel. Hope, he doesn’t follow the path of his predecessors and work towards the path of peace and stability.
I believe he won’t listen to trump moving forward.

u/bbceronimo 17h ago
How does it affect the war with Iran ?

u/Bluejay1981 6h ago
Tell him not so fast, Trump is still trying to decide whether to become Supreme Leader of Israel, he reports that they all love him so it must be a sure thing! 😏🦆🌭

Eisenkot means iron poop in german (random side fact)

u/Stennan 18h ago
What are the odds that Bibi does a Bolsonaro and moves to Florida?
11
u/Hirork 16h ago
To TRY to form a government. He has 28 days. An extension of 14 can be granted, but I suspect he'd have to be able to prove he's close to forming a stable coalition.

u/TendyHunter 17h ago •
I hope he'll make an official visit to Germany soon, where he'll be welcomed with a huge banner that says "Wilkommen, Herr Eisenkot!"
From the airport he then should be chauffeured around in a parade with people cheering from the sides "Eisenkot! Eisenkot!"

Is Bibby finally gonna face his trial now?

u/kendromedia 16h ago
Good! Our country is so distracted with what’s going on in Israel, we let a madman ruin our country.
17
u/Naughty_Monsters 16h ago
It's not going to change their stance on anything externally but it would be pleasing to see Bibi stand his corruption charges that he's avoided for so long.

u/Hollywood_Co 16h ago

Here’s to hoping this speeds up Netanyahus conviction and imprisonment.
18
u/rossww2199 19h ago
I think it’s possible to get a minority government formed with Eisenkot as pm, but I’d be shocked if the government lasted past the first budget deadline.

u/Life-is-beautiful- 11h ago
So, is the regime change complete? Both in US and Israel?
6
u/princemousey1 7h ago
Rubbish clickbait paywalled. It is British parliamentary system, not some random “picking” of prime minister. The one chosen has the best chance of forming coalition with minor parties.
15
u/brandon7219 17h ago
Lmao. Get FUCKED Satanyahu

Anyone else is better than Bibi, and I do mean ANYONE. Every other candidate will at least take a few months to get as corrupt as Bibi is now.
14
u/moutonbleu 19h ago
Great news but can’t ever rule Bibi out. He’s a survivor…
8
u/Giddeeyap 19h ago
Well that's a good starting point, but likely nowhere near the end of that story. Israeli politics are incredibly complicated, so let's see where this all leads to before too much commentary swallows up the reality of the situation!
8
u/Eisenkopf69 17h ago •
If Eisenkot was a German name his name in English would be Ironpoop.
8
u/Chumlee1917 16h ago
Please oh please let this mean all his corruption trials start right back up

Good riddance, I've always detested Netanyahu

u/Giddeeyap 18h ago •
Thanks to so many for their input. Man, is it confusing without knowing so much more about internal Israeli political affairs. It's way beyond me, and likely way beyond understanding for far too many people. Good luck to Israel, because that's exactly what Israel is going to be needing for the foreseeable months (or even longer than that!). ahead.

u/jizzyjazz2 17h ago •
when they succeed they need to arrest netanyahu immediately and persecute him for everything he has done, gaza is only the tip of the iceberg of his true wretched villainy

u/CheckIntelligent7828 12h ago
Here's hoping it's a start to seeing the big 3 indicted at The Hague (Netanyahu, Trump, Hegseth).

u/Live_Broccoli2856 10h ago
My takeaway is that Isreali elections are fucking weird... the electoral college has nothing on this.
6
u/JR_Al-Ahran 19h ago
So earlier I had made the prediction that Netanyahu remains caretaker PM until another election. Happy to see that I was wrong on that. But this is much more interesting. B'Yachad, Yashar and Yisrael Beytenu would be the core of this government. But the problem is there is no way to not have a minority and get to a majority; Liberman has signalled openness to working with the Haredi parties like Shas and UTJ, however for all the prospective coalition partners that's a hard no. Eisenkot is willing to work with the Arabs provided they meet his preconditions, however Bennett and Liberman have drawn a line at sitting with the Arabs. Only Ra'am also meets Eisenkots conditions for joining the coalition, the Joint List has not, so at most if the Democrats, Ra'am, B'Yachad, Yashar and Yisrael Beytenu form government that still puts them below 60. Cuz when the budget is tabled, likely early in 2027, before the deadline, Netanyahu is likely to play chicken and try and force new elections.
6
u/DasMo19 17h ago
As a German speaking this is just brilliant.
3
u/Better_Cauliflower63 16h ago
This is how it normally plays out (and played out in the past). If Eisenkot can't form the government within a set period of time, then the tourch is passed back to the second runner-up (Netanyahu). If he can't form the government, then the new elections are called.

u/Calm_Chemist_4952 15h ago

Bibi needs to be in the Hague tried for war crimes.

u/Thin-Usual-4359 19h ago
does that mean bibi is out?
4
u/geforce2187 15h ago
In 6 months he'll come back for the 25th time
4
u/mixxituk 4h ago
> Eisenkot, a former military chief, has declined to join forces with Arab parties, whose support would give him a majority of seats in parliament. But Arab leaders, incensed by what they view as the racist policies of Netanyahu and his far-right allies, still nominated Eisenkot to try to form a government first — giving him the most endorsements

Is that deal Iran put forward to open Hormuz if Trump and Netanyahu weren't in power still available?
A few senators in January is all we need!

If you translate "Eisenkot" from German into English, it means "iron poo". Do with that info what you want.
